Default Looking for some high end, lightweight rotors for your STi?

We are considering the purchase of some high end two piece, non floating rotors for the STi. These are front rotors only. They will be drilled for both 5x100 and 5x114.3 applications. They drop 10 lbs. per corner. Rears will be made once we prove that there is demand for this high end brake rotor.

You can read more about make, prototyping, tesing, comparison to an Alcon setup here:

Part 1
Part 2

This deal is ONLY available for the donating members of this forum and once 25 sets are sold you WILL NOT see prices like this again.

The Brake Man Two Piece Front Rotor Setup

Rotor Set Retail: $1480.50

Group Buy Price if 25 are ordered: $999
Group Buy Price if 15 are ordered: $1199
Group Buy Price if 5 are ordered: $1299

LEAVE YOUR DEPOSIT TODAY BY CLICKING HERE:

Stock STi Weight

Brake Man rotor weight

As for brake materials, The Brake Man only offers one compound for the OEM brake pad application and it is somewhat costly. This is for a complete set of front brake pads with the race compound:

Brake Pad Retail: $332.75
Group Buy Price if not purchased with rotors: $319.86
Group Buy Price if purchased with rotors: $299.97

THIS IS NOT AVAILABLE ANYWHERE ELSE.

And finally here are some additional things you should know when making the decision to purchase this rotor kit:

Replacement Brake Man Rotors: $375/rotor

Drilled rotors is not an option, but slotted maybe for a slight extra cost though its not recommended as it will not enhance the performance of these rotors.

Here is what one track day participant wrote after riding in the car during the testing:

I have been fortunate enough to experience these brakes in action on the track and on the street. They are absolutely incredible! I have never been in a car that braked so well. At buttonwillow, I could not believe the violent force these brakes put you through. My body was firmly planted against the factory seat belt. I was trying so hard with all my leg strength to push my torso up to releive the pressure. I was not successful. These things are amazing.

For me, its not just the added benefit of the stopping power alone. I will be purchasing these brakes(and yes I want rears as well) because they drop 10lbs per corner. The weight reduction will help the car accelerate faster and be more manueverable in the twisties. Heck, these pads and rotors would be good for drag racing as well.

When Kevin first showed me the Alcons I was very reluctant. I could not see spending $2500 on a wear item. Then came the Brakeman rotors, which were even lighter and slightly cheaper. I was not sold on the product until recently. I have had a chance to see these things wear, and basically the rotors don't show signs of wear. The rotors look like they are still new? And Kevin has put these brakes through more abuse than I will(I like my car too much).

At this price they are a steal, sorry Kevin.

Maybe a set of four point harnesses should be included with the pads and rotors, just a thought?

In the past, I was able to get a ride in Nivek's STi on the street and at the track. I was extremely impressed with the stopping ability of these brakes. And I could not believe how much better the car handled and accelerated with the reduction of rotating mass at the corners.

Yesterday was different, I not only got a ride in Ben's STi equipped with the brakeman rotors/pads, I got the chance to drive it!

Wow! Absolutely amazing!

When I first jumped in the car with Ben, I reached for the 4-point harnesses. He did not want me to use them because he wanted me to feel the full effect (he wanted to break my nose?). I resisted and strapped myself in. The combination of modifications in Ben's STi are extraordinary, they work so well with each other, it is almost unbelievable. The stopping force is amazing, even on the street where the brakes cannot heat up to full temperature. His car accelerates so quickly it is not even funny, too bad we are not drag racers (a good launch combined with some excellent shifting should result in good time slips). We need to get an in-car video, so you can see how quickly each gear runs out. I now agree with Nivek, you do not need the shorter gears, you would never get a chance to stay in a gear for any length of time. It's great, you can get up to speed extremely quickly and then jump on the brakes and haul yourself down in no time! It__ is__ perfect!

I then got a chance to drive Ben's car. I immediately noticed that it does accelerate faster than my STi, sigh. His car feels very light on its feet and is very confidence inspiring. He made me drop him off at some remote corner on a street. He wanted me to experience the setup with no added weight to get the full benefit...........and I did! This car ACCELERATES and this car STOPS! I was wearing the factory seat belts and they just don't really work! On each of my hard braking stops, my nose was literally 1/2 inch from the steering wheel. Your eyes feel like they will be sucked out at any time! And these brakes definitely lock-up the R-compound tires. You need to concentrate when you apply the brakes, things happen so quickly you need to be 100% aware of your surroundings. The tires scramble for traction and pull at each imperfection in the road. You can tell the ABS does not know what to do? I have never driven a car that can stop this good!

The added benefit of the reduction of weight at each corner and the increase in acceleration puts me over the top. I will be installing this setup on my car as soon as I can. I want my brakeman rear rotors/pads NOW!

Ben's modification path is truly one to follow!

Thanks for the ride and drive!

Mike

These will be available first to those that buy the fronts and then the general public. The rotors are drilled for 5 x100 and 5 x114.3 applications.

As soon as 10 front pieces are sold, we will ask Warren to proceed with making the rears. Since the rears have not been made, giving you a price would be complete speculation on my part, but those first 10 people that buy the fronts will get the same special deal at cost for the rears. Your last sentence did not make much sense to me, perhaps you could rephrase the question?

Maybe I confused your initial statement of having only one compound for the oem fronts pads and it being costly, but I was mainly asking about pad options for the rear and if we're able to use any pads, or if we have to use the brakeman brake pads.

The fronts will be produced first. Then we will focus our resources on getting the rears completed. We are aiming to drop another 10 lbs or more with the rear, so this kit should shed 40 lbs when its all said and done.

The Brake Man recommends his pads. They have a street pad and race pad. I am waiting for the pricing on the street pad. You should have the same options with the rear pads. You can use brake pads from other manufacturers but I would recommend staying away from pads with high metal content.

Did that help or make it more confusing?

That's better. I would purchase the front rotors, but I don't have brembos in the front I guess I'll keep watch for the rear set. Thanks

What material are these made of? Also, I am a noob when it comes to brakes, but what are the advantages/disadvantages of a two piece rotor?
