Default Thinking about goin to Utah....got a few car questions.

I am going to be moving with my 2005 STi. Im paying an a$$load for insurance right now. How bad is insurance in Utah (full coverage)? Im 21 and have good driving for 5 years with no tickets. Do they salt the roads there? Is there a big crack down on exhaust?? How much and how often is registration for cars? Thanks for dealing with my questions but I just want to get some info on where I plan to move within the next 6 months.

i was 22 when i bought my WRX (not STI tho), had decent driving record, 1 or 2 minor tickets, was paying about $120/mo for insurance i think, yes they salt the roads in the winter but seems like it's usually just dirt/sand, but if you plan on driving your car for the next 10 years you might start to notice more rust here than other places, because of the lake i think rain/dirt/etc may be a little saltier than other places too, regardless of whether they're salting the roads.. Not a major crack down on exhaust, some people have been harassed, but most people never have a problem for simply having a loud exhaust, usually just for driving like a jackazz and the muffler just helps attract the cops. i think i paid about $200/yr to register/license my car. since you have an STI and my $ are for a WRX, maybe hold tight to see what everyone else says. STI may be a whole other story.

look here for registration info on your car http://dmv.utah.gov/registertaxesfees.html I have only heard of people being harrassed about exhaust when they are on State Street, and really it's just an excuse to pull over jackasses, if you just drive normally, cops don't even look. I have a turbo XS RFL (really ****ing loud) muffler and a cop nary throws me a crooked eye because i drive with in 5 mph of the speed limit when i'm in the city. insurance, i have no clue, my record is clean and i still get raped, so ymmv. Yes we salt caynon roads and usually use sand inside the city unless there is a threat of black ice in which case we salt the **** out of this valley.

I moved here about 11 years ago. Love that it's not a toilet like So Cal is turning into. You should pay less for insurance. As for the roads, your car should already be undercoated for erosion. you'll just have to rinse it off more that's all...Only my opinion.
