Default STi muffler on my LGT-T - soundclips added

Someone asked a while back so here are the pictures.

The tip sits pretty flush with the rear valance:

And it doesn't hang low like most fart cans you see around. This helps with the 'stealth' factor of my car:

Not entirely centered but close enough to make me happy:

You can see it had to be lengthened to account for the Legacy's size. A hanger also had to be added (the rusty one you see is hacked off on the other side):

The rest of the exhaust consists of an aftermarket uppipe, JDM single cat downpipe, and JDM twin scroll midpipe (longer unit from what I understand). This setup sounds sweet. It has a nice rumble at idle but seems to quiet down once on the road. Full throttle blasts are relatively quiet so unsuspecting motorists won't know what's going on

I must have a sound clip! This is what I was considering for a muffler. I'm very interested in how it sounds.

With the minor deflection (which I think can probably be fixed with the hangars) to one side aside, this looks like it was made for the legacy skirt. Looks great!

Add me to those wanting to hear the sound clip too. Would really like to hear three if possible.

1) outside the car up/down through the rpms
2) inside the car up/down through the gears
3) insdie the car at 70mph (or close proximty) cruising with some up/down shifts.

I know it's a lot to ask but, we have not because we ask not...

Wow, I really like that setup. What’s the diameter of the inlet tube for the sti muffler?

I need to hear a sound-clip too… My fart can is very high-flow, but far too loud. I’ve already tacked an exhaust auger in and it didn’t help. I guess that’s what happens when you run catless strait through.

Sounds clip, sound clip, sound clip….

Hmmm, what's the easiest way to make a sound clip, I've never done that before?

I might have a microphone laying around here I could plug into my work laptop. I'll have to see if I have any software that records on it. I don't really know any other way...

I think it looks great! Very OEMish . If I like the sound of it, I may do it to my car as well.

monovich found the STi version of the muffler section for our cars too. It looks great but I dont think the version(with the embossed tip) he has is still available.

And I should say monovich apparently modified a GC STI rear section to be used on his car. I must have forgotten that part. The oem version of basically what monovich has were at subaruparts but they were $$$$. I think thats why he went with a used part.

Heres what they have now:

Appearence-wise thats pretty similar except location and type of embossing.

ss

edit: BTW that rear section is only $216, less than I remember. Seems like they were like 3 and change before when they were STi versions.

wow, that looks great, dobes!

I actually had the JDM GC STi box custom fitted to my BG by having a custom cat-back made and the muffler hangers on the muffler moved. It worked well, but mine sticks out about an inch too far. not that I'm all growed up it bothers me more than it used to. yours looks perfect.

but the sound... oh.. so sweet, especially when slowing down or driving in a parking garage or starting the car. yum.
