Default McGard Locks...Rotating Seat?...Necessary with Spline Lugs?

I'm looking to buy McGard spline drive lugs, but I thought I read that the locks do NOT have the rotating seat like the spline drive lugs...can anyone confirm this?

While I'm at it, do you really think the locks are necessary when running spline drive lugs (ie: splines are already a theft deterrant)?

Yeah, I know I could ask a vendor directly, but I didn't want to waste their time.

Understood, but do the *locks* have the rotating seats?

No rotating seat for the McGard locks, at least not for the ones that Subaru sells.

I have the rotating seats on my Mcgards and frankly they don't really do anything. Afterthe first winter with them they mostly seized anyway and no the wheels are scrathced wehre thye contact.

Another confirmation that the McGard locking lugs do not have rotating seats. It's not really an issue, and it's safer to have them than not.

I agree it's safer to have them, but it seems like it defeats the purpose of the rotating seats on the other lug nuts. From rotating the wheels, etc, the locking nuts will end up tearing up the paint on all of the wheel seats anyway.

...are the Subaru genuine parts locks McGard locks? If so, are they the same locks most people are buying to compliment the spline drive lugs?

it's fine, it's not like the lock needs to have a rotating seat.. it's just like any other lug nut..

my mcgard locks that came with the spline drive set do not have rotating seat. what worries more is that the locks look like they have a pretty generic pattern. the locking shape is symmetric and quite plain. i was assuming it would be a random pattern like the locks that subaru sells. any info on this? or i am just tripping out?
