Question Fitment issues with 02 WRX Wheels on 00 Outback Wagon?

I have an extra set of 02 WRX wheels left over from when I had my Rex. Now that I have a 2000 Outback (Legacy) I was wondering if I could use the WRX wheels for my snow tires. I know they are both 16" inches and that the WRX tires are 205/55/16 but would there be any problems with putting those wheels and tires on the Outback? I know the Outback tires are a different size but can't remember offhand.

Also, would just the wheels work if I put Outback size tires on them? I have heard the Outback wheels are wider.

Thanks in advance.

Original Outback tire size = 225/60/16
Overall diameter = 26.7"
Measuring Rim = 6.5"

Original WRX tire size = 205/55/16
Overall diameter = 25"
Measuring rim = 6.5"

Can you put these on your Outback? Sure, if the bolt pattern is the same.

Will you have problems? The WRX tire is almost 2" smaller overall diameter so this will change your speedometer readings.

Can you put Outback size tires on the WRX rims? Sure.

The Tire Rack site is a wonderful thing to get this type of info.

Let me add something I forgot. If you use the WRX tires on your Outback, the load rating is far too low as compared to your correct tire size.

If it was me, use your correct tire size on the WRX wheels, if they fit.

I believe for MY '00 onwards, the wheel offset used on the Outback is +48mm; MYs prior is +55mm... the +48mm maybe to accomodate the use of 225s.

I am pretty sure the lug pattern for the WRX is 5x100. I would assume the Outback is the same but does anyone know if this is incorrect?

Also, isn't the WRX offset 48 too?

So will there be any problems with the higher offset wheels on the Outback?

Other than appearance?
