Thumbs up I posted this back a few weeks ago...

I finally sold my Mini *sob* (i'm sad but it had to be done)

I'm gonna spend about $1000 (btw 700 - 1000) on my RS (hopefully more soon...) What should I spend it on. Please don't say tires because I'm already planning on doing that in the spring. I'm getting snows but don't count that in the $1000 (so I'm spending a bit more...oops.)

I've got a 20mm bar and that's it right now.

Where to start...suspension??? exhaust??? intake??? shifter???

Think BEST BANG FOR BUCK...

Tell us your plans for your car.
You gonna race? Care what class? Turbo/na plans?

If you're going to stay NA, I might suggest the cobb cams and a ganzflow intake....

Suspension, endlinks, and hats would make a nice package for that price. Might be able to get a set of engine and tranny mounts in there too.

Bang for the buck....
Ganzflow intake $100 ish
Shortshifter $120
Suspension 500-800 depending on what you want
Front endlinks $45 (maybe get the rears too?)
Save for a turbo. $1000
Ive heard good things about the engine and tranny mounts... runs abour $200 never tried them myself

Suspension is probably the safest bet, along with a cheap intake. Suspension will serve you either way, and something like the ganzflow isnt expensive enough to worry about if you go turbo (actually Ill be selling mine soon enough.... that and a power pulley)

For overall enjoyment of your car on tarmac, suspension is the way to go... oh and tires, but you knew that.

Springs, struts, rear sway bar, endlinks (at least up front), and a decent alignment. I've got my negative camber up front maxed out, 22mm rear sway bar, Whiteline endlinks all around, and my struts set to 1f/2r (near the softest) and my car handles like it's on rails. Well... minus all the oversteer.

Well, I would say suspension (i suggest the P1 setup )...coupled with the tires you'll be getting, your car will handle great.

If your thinking turbo down the road I would hold off on intake, headers, exhaust cuase it will be money down the tube.

If you want more power and stay NA I'd say cobb cams, unorthodox pulleys and/or larry's intake.

nonono SAVE for a turbo... all $1000.
Seriously though the suspension is probably the best. You want a p1 even if you dont know it yet.

Thumbs down

Again I am slowed in my RS "improvement" package because the jack-off that won the eBay auction came to pick up the Mini and then he backed out because he said it was too much of a project...AHHHHHHHHHHH
