Default Have had a Suby for a week and I want to sell it

I just picked up a 93 Impreza (FWD) a week ago and I'm ready to sell it. Why? Can't find parts for it. Not performance parts, but replacement parts such as shocks, brake calipers, exhaust. The car runs fine, and I bought it to get me through the winter. It does have some issues which I want to address, but I DON'T want to buy parts from the dealer ($$$). I've considered a full WRX swap, but why bother?

I may just be used to VW's and since I have a few contacts that own VW specialty race shops, finding parts has been easy.

Customs to Canada kills me... I just bought foglights and got nicked for the equivalent 35% in duty and sevice charges because the stuff is made in Germany (Hella lights).

www.lachuteperformance.com is a full-service garage as well as a highly skilled performance shop. Check with them for basic stuff, like KYB GR2 struts (non-adjustable) etc.

I had forgotten about them... maybe I should take the long way to the cottage this Friday. I guess I was just having a moment of weakness after driving a mk3 Golf with a 200hp 1.8T. Everything makes sense since I picked up some Legacy wheels the Impreza.

I'm starting to believe that a full WRX swap might actually be worth it.

Um, most Impreza parts up to 2001 will fit that car- you shouldn't have that much trouble finding anything but brake pads and rotors, and that shouldn't be too hard.

Well, for next time you should check into parts availability before you buy a car. Or just buy a Honda and never have to worry. It will save you some frustration next time.

I still say it would be easier to sell the car and get a newer suby to start with. I'm not talking about breaking the bank here. Get a 99rs or something and then do whatever you want to it. If you can afford it, get a WRX and do whatever you want to it. It just sounds like your starting from a pretty low point, paying thousands of dollars to get it up to a stock RS or WRX, depending on how much you want to spend. I don't mean this to sound condescending or anything. I actually mean for this to help. To prove this, I will put this banana here.

Ok, all is good in the world although my clutch started slipping today in heavy rains from Katrina. I made a few calls to friends and got some good leads on parts. I just may be able to convert it to an ultra sleeper for very little $$$. Going to need summer tires so that I can refinish my winter steelies before I need winter tires.

A Honda was never a possibility... gutless down low. And they're ugly. I'd be a family outcast. Our philosophy: If it ain't euro, it better be a Suby.

... and I just spotted a SVX in the local classifieds for $6k CDN in supposedly mint condition.

I'd say wait until after winter to start anything major...it took me about 10 months to get everything straight with my swap....good luck tho
