Default Cusco diffuser/install kit GB, limited time only!!

In our constant efforts to provide the best products at the best prices, we came across this diffuser kit from Cusco Japan.

The kit consists of a rear diffuser (similiar to that on the 06 models), rear chassis support/diffuser mount bar and mounting plate kit. After speaking back and forth with Cusco Im told that this kit is a bolt in and go setup for all Impreza (98-up).

The picture above shows where the mounting points are. The bar comes in the famed Cusco blue and Im also told it serves as a rear chassis brace so its more than just a fancy mount. This diffuser kit is a great compliment to the front skidplate they make.

This gb will be on a limited basis of 5 people. We will run this gb until Sep 8th at which time whomever has submitted payment will be included. If we get all 5 people paid before this time, we will end the gb and begin the order immediately after to get the ball rolling.

Being as this is a special order item (newly released) and isnt yet available in the us, we will require payment to be submitted prior to ordering. Shipping time from Japan to USA will be 6 to 8 weeks after which time everyone will have their diffuser kits shipped accordingly.

PM for price until closing

Pricing will be from Japan to your door, which will cover all importation/taxes and shipping from Cusco to you. Im sure there will be questions so please ask away and I will answer to the best of my ability and/or contact Cusco accordingly.

Im going to get underneath my 02 tommorow to see if I can snap some pics of where it mounts. Ill have to be getting a "proper" camera since I probably have the ishtiest camera ever made

From what I see and from talking to them the front plate (mount) bolts in just in front of the bottom portion of the bumper. The bar is the one Im mostly curious to look at, since it seems to mount near the top or just in front of the sway bar. The first pic above shows a pretty good picture of where the front plate mounts.

Yah, I have an aftermarket sway bar that mounts about 3 inches lower than stock (large 'A' shaped braket pieces). Also, my downpipe was not bent enough so my catback sits close to the passenger side of the car than it is supposed to. What type of rear sway bar/exhaust setup do you have on the '02?

orwrx, the rear lip should not interfere with the diffuser.

shemoves, I have stock sway bars and a Fujitsubo powergetter exhaust thats slightly angled. From looking closely the bar mounts in front of the sway bar. Its hard to explain, so Ill try to not confuse anyone and explain it to the best of my ability.

If anyone has mounted the cusco v-brace, youll have noticed that the trunk floor board ends and then goes up (if you look in the trunk, its the raised floor section right before the back of the seats). Right before this point is where the bar should mount, and Im going to get underneath and check this out. It couldnt mount anywhere else or the diffuser wouldnt sit straight. If this is the case, then all that is left to see is where the bar itself physically bolts up to and then the rest is history.

All in all, looks pretty straight forward. The diffuser kit will also come with instructions and pictures which I will try to get translated and post for anyone who is not local. Since Ill be picking one up for my own, anyone who is local is more than welcome to get together for a group install as well

Would you be able to find out if the swaybar has to be removed for instalation? It looks like the brace sits above the bar and there would be no way to mount it unless you removed the swaybar and then reinstalled it afterwards.

Also curious about the instructions being in english although it loosk pretty self explanatory. Does it use all factory mounting points? This is a "bolt on" not requiring any drilling? This is the kit I have been waiting for. The only reason I haven't purchased the diffuser from Subaru. On that note it looks the same as the OEM version, is there any real difference?

Lastly, why only 5 people even if more would like to buy. I am sure you have good reason but curious minds want to know. Sorry for all the questions.

Thanks

EDIT: some questions already answered above...I am a slow typer.

Right, from the looks of it, it shouldnt interfere with the sway bar since its prone to movement and this bar is stationary, and judging from the pics looks to sit in front of it on the trunk floorboard bolting up to the sides. What Im eager to see is what its going to bolt up to on the sides.

Im told no drilling is needed, but Im repeatedly asking the question to make absolutely sure and they find it amusing But its best to know these things ahead of time.

Reason for 5 people is it would make it faster to begin the order, since if anyone is like me they dont like waiting too much. Its not set in stone though and if more people are interested Ill check to ensure that they can accomodate the order. Another reason is that we would like to ensure that they can provide the total order instead of holding it up with production which would add to the 6-8 weeks.

Would it be safe to assume that this would work with (fitment wise) the Cusco rear sway bar?

Ace009, thats correct

ranger5oh, your math is a bit off there, although I see your point. The cost of importation plays heavily in the pricing above, when in actuality the costs are WAY different...if you live in Japan. Add to that the cost of shipping from me to anyone else in the country and that plays a small role too. I can continue to name off the attributing factors but I think you see my point.

The kit itself saves major headaches when wanting to use the diffuser and do it the right way, and considering what Ive seen other diffusers going for this a not a bad deal at all. I just have to get in there and get the mounting points pictured but Im pretty eager to get it done too.

Looks like the main bar mounts underneath the sway bar brackets.

typer...insightful. Does remounting sway bars require an alignment? My guess is no as long as the car is not lifted off the wheels.

From reading a computer translated version of Cusco's website, it appears the "Rear frame reinforcement bar" attaches to the "lower arm bar".

Could this mean the rear sway bar brackets? There's not much else down there.

Computer translated page can be found here...

Also of note; the diffuser is the genuine Subaru diffuser that comes with the '06 STi. So at least it would be easy to replace if damaged.

Being a Cusco whore, there is no way I can pass this up. Paypal sent!

Yes it makes even better sense now. I briefly got under the car (although thanks to the rain wasnt fun ) and that is the only area it can bolt up to. Looking at the very first pic in page 1, you can just about see where the bar hangs over the sway bar with clearence between the two.

jcdrenguis, you are also correct on the diffuser and thanks for the translated link. They do make some beautiful stuff that performs even better than it looks

Now I am really confused? The picture clearly shows the brace mounted above the swaybar. Is that what you guys are saying?

Oh, do you guys think I would recieve bad karma if I were to paint the brace flat black?

Blue elephants might haunt you in your sleep!!! J/K

I have yet to confirm if its above or below exactly, but what is apparent is that it mounts with the sway bar itself which explains how it would be a "bolt-on" kit requiring no drilling. It also explains (theoretically that is) how it would add rigidity.

As soon as we get the order going and they arrive, Ill be installing this with pictures for everyone that will be posted here, so that when you receive yours everything is confirmed

Man, if this GB evolves into just getting the mounting kit and not so much the diffuser, I'd be down in a sec... curse that japanese backorder stuff!

For the cost of the mounting kit, you dont save much vs. buying the whole thing which is why I posted it this way. For those who already have the diffuser thats a different story. If we see interest we might offer it as a kit only option and reconfigure pricing, but again only if we see interest.
