Default Max HP of a V1 or V2?

Wasn't quite sure where to post this....
Without rebuilding the internals, what is a reasonable HP expectation out of an early JDM WRX? I'm talking just bolt-ons, EM, proper tuning, etc. etc. (bolt ons would include different turbo, exhaust, flywheel, etc)

Hehe that depends on the block and stock internals!! I have seen a few 300hp ones a few in the hyper rev mags that have hit 380hp. I would say around 320 properly tuned!!

u can run 320 ps all day long on stock bits - providing proper gas and such. the td05 is probably efficient to 350 or more. if you count turbine upgrade as bolt ons and injectors, 400+ should be safe with proper tuning.

flywheels dont increase power.

tdo5 is 505+cfm at 1 bar a stock wrx turbo is 390 --which will squeak out 300 at the crank
v.1 won't spin as fast as the v.2 due to the HLA heads

v1 and v2 are both HLA unless you have a V2 sti-RA right? did any other G motors have mech listers?

a Td04 can do 300 crank hp, shouldnt the td05 push more air if you up the boost right? i dont know the compressor maps so im just guessing

I'm looking at anything that's not inside the engine. Everything else is wide open. Within reason, of course

Is there anyone out there that has hit 400 chp with a V.1? What would be the approximate investment to get it to that stage?

I realize that flywheels don't increase HP. Actually, I'm not quite sure how that one ended up in my post But, they do free up HP, right?

flywheels dont free up hp. think of my fat ass in a 100m sprint, if you gave me 30 lb shoes id be slow right? but with 2 lb shoes on id run faster. did i get stronger? hells no. im still a fatass, and i just ate a buncha bbq. yum bbq.

im sure there are people who have hit 400 chp with a stock internal motor. as long as u dont rev it liek crazy, and make your power on the lower/mid end and tune things really well, im sure u can hit 400 chp. actually, i guarentee it. people do it on the Ej205 all the time.

- it might not live very long, but you'd have to check with those guys for referance on that bizz on the Ej205, and communicate in japenese well to figure that out for the V1.

how much you'l have to spend>>? thats dependent on your personal ebay clause :P

i know a Vf39 from a usdm Sti can push 300 AWHP on a EJ205. friend has one with a ecutech in portland area. he's been running reliably for 50,000 miles now, and the EJ205 is weaker internally than the jdm wrx v1 Ej20g in some regards. how much money? VF39 ~$400 bux used on the forums, catless downpipe ~$200 no prob used, Apex'i PowerFC ~$800, some 550cc injectors for a Sr20det or rb26dett or somthing else simlar ~$250 on ebay, tuning and dyno time ~ $400??

thats decently reasonable.

id go with a vf22, still cheap, but its good for more hp. since thats what ur looking for.

yes V1s were the only ones with HLA (from what ive read)

and im sure its possible, the life is just going to be shorter.
british guys hit 500 on stock 207s in those HP shootouts.

V2's had HLA also except for the RA's. My V2 555 has HLA.

Why the Ver 1/2? I would do a USDM swap over those engines. The EJ205 is just as good if not better. There are a few rare STi blocks that are good units but chances are you wont find one. The USDM has a ton more EM choices, The Ver 1/2 have few if any decent choices.

I agree with the VF22. You will like the spool and power it makes. The TD05 is harder to find and usually $500 or more.

finding EM for the early impreza's is hard...it didn't really start having a big aftermarket until ver. 3 or so I have read

Em is easy Power fc and be done with it, I bet 02+wrx owners wish they could have that unit.

I would take a Utec or Hydra over an old power FC anyday. The power FC is antique when compared to todays engine managements. Sure it works, just like the Link and Megasquirt, but its really showing its age. Tuning a highly modified car with the hand held programer is not possible(or sain). And by the time you buy some 2nd party software for your laptop its no longer economical. Plus the total lack of support!

well if you fine tune with the datalogit(owned by tunner) on the dyno than you can make adjustments via hand held controller. I agree I would like a hydra over the power-fc but I totally disagree with the power-fc being antique. Granted its been out for awhile but people in europe and the states are just learning there full capablity making some nice numbers. They do need to make the dejetro system for the impreza though.

All you need is a power-fc and andy forrester to tune it.
