Default why wont 16x8 slipstreams work on a GC/GM/GF?

i was reading on suby dudes site that the 16x8 will only fit 02+

why is that?

i already have my fenders rolled and am using wrx lateral links and soon 04 sti control arms up front. is it a fender clearence issue? or a strut clearence issue?

any insight is greatly appreciated

Rear strut rubbing? I think svek is running 225/50/16s on stock 7" rims and has this problem.

What size tires you trying to cram in there, and what do you have now?

I currently run 225/50/16 on stock rs wheels. 3mm spacer took care of rubbing

whatever fits an 8" wheel

If that works, you should be fine. The stock wheels are +53 offset, and the slipstreams are +48. Even though they're 8" wide, I think they'd fit. If not, re-use the spacers.

That's good news. For the record, what:

- tire make/model are you running
- That a 99 Legacy body you've got? Not sure of the "L" in your profile
- You have to get longer studs, or the stock ones work?

Asking cuz I'm still dreaming of cramming 225/50/16s under my MY00 RS on the stock rims for autocross.

I used to use 225-50-16 victoracers with a 3mm rear spacer on teh stock RS wheels..... now use 225-50-15's... with kosei k1's... with no rubbing issue....

16x8's would be ideal for track use on my RS.....

yea i noticed that earlier today when checking specs for my currrent tires.

i was just wondering what a recomended tire size would be.

i guess its completely limited to what is available in a summer/performance tire in 225+ for a 16" wheel

225's will fit fine on 8" wide wheels. You go up to a 245, but if you're already concerned about rubbing, you probably want to stick with the 225.
