That said, I can't make this event, so it's one less slow car to compete with you.
so where and how do we sign up? and there will be helmets we can borrow for us first timers, right?

You must wear a helmet. Loaner helmets are available for free for the first few events but after that we will charge $10 for the loaners, so you are encouraged to buy your own helmet. Ask us about helmet requirements and recommendations.

since it's the end of the season and it looks like all the pros will be there, i think we'll sit this one out to race but will come and watch just so we can see the more experienced auto-xers. we'll be there this sunday for test and tune though. i want to see how the LGT does w/ the 5EAT. guess i'll have to practice the torque braking or whatever it's called. i have no idea...

WooHoo, yet another excuse to puss out!!! It's the same people at every race, end of the season doesn't make a difference. The only way you can learn how to do something is by trying it. Get brave, realize you won't win your first race and come have FUN!!!

truth be told, i can't afford it. not after $40 at AK raceway park yesterday. been unemployed last month and won't get the first paycheck (only 4 days) till next week. i'm still toying with the idea however, so keep talking me into it.

The earlier you start racing the more experience yoy'll have. So, get on with it! You gotta start SOMEtime. Give it a go, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Who knows, maybe you won't like it. But you'll never know unless you try it. This post is for everybody on this board (not just TRDvibe) who have been on the fence on whether to try it or not.

Truer words have never been said. you have to start sometime. I started early in a season, on a fluke. Jake is the reason for me being hooked on it now. Long story cut short (or tried to) I was wanting to modify my Legacy (was hard for us early Legacy modifiers) and was referred to Jake, and met up with a few at an early AKIC meet, jake said "you shoudl come out to the Autocross, you dont have to run if you dont want to, but come out early incase" So that I did, was convinced by another SCCA member there to give it a go, got adrenaline pumping, then had Jake show me how hard the car can be pushed. NOW, I have been amazing Miata drivers left and right of how fast and smooth (so they say) I can plow my boat around the course.

It Is all in fun, (for me at least) and the wow factor, "WOW, I didnt hit that cone??!!" LOL

lol. being that i can hardly park the LGT straight, it would be interesting to see how many cones i'll most likely run over or hit. :P

but ya, i'll probably do it just because i find watching so boring.

can i just go early and sign up there? or do we have to pre-register?

yes, I will try and find a link to one of my friends compilation video. It is a proDSM vid, but shows how outside it looks boring, then inside is...a bit different looking.

USUALLY you are allowed to sign up there, however if the option is available, I'd recommend registering online, but paying at event.

Registering in advance helps the organizers plan the event.

Do it! Grab your husband, go to the autocross, and have fun. 40 bucks is a lot less than mods or car payments. And you'll get a lot out of it.

Of course, then you'll be hooked, and I'll just have another fast car out there beating me, but meh.

I'm missing this event, I'll be celebrating my nephews birthday. It's frickin' hot here in Buffalo. Supposed to get up to 90 today.

Holy humidity.

Do it!
