Default My baja is scaring me

Just hit 26,000 miles. A few days ago I was backing out of a friends driveway, put it in D and I was slipping like no tomarrow. I put it in first and it caught and then all was normal when I put it back in drive. Now all was good for a few days, but for the past two days it will barely move/shift when cold. I feather the throttle in first, find a hill that goes then then slowly get up to 35 mph in first, then shift. After that everything goes back to normal in D. My friend's father (GM mechanic) told me he is going to give me some AT conditioner. Would you think that would help?

I tried to find a fluid level/dip stick but I cant find it.

Any help appreciated. Too afraid to take it to the dealer for a transmission issue after hearing all the horror stories while still on warrenty. Plus I got college!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: only things I can think of is low tranny fluid, mother driving with feet on both pedals, or driving up many steep hills. (its the poconos)

well just got home, my mother who took it to the dealership and was waiting for me when I got back home was very pissed (I was in school). She didnt wanna tell me "why" but she said she had to wait an extra 2 hours at the dealership. At least they fixed it under warrenty whatever it was .
