Question Greg555 - need your input

Greg

You had both Blizzaks and now Hakkas.

Which one do you like better for Chicago weather???

I need to know because I might get Hakkas or just go to Tire Rack and get some Blizzaks.

It`s really hard to say
Blizzaks i really liked but I wasn`t happy with the size 205/55/16
HakkaQ`s that I got are 195/65/15

Both tires are amazing when driven on a road covered with snow. You can go 80 MPH and probbably stop faster than on a gravel.

But the problem is Chicago is not Finland and most of the times we get slushy and icy roads that nothing (but studded tires) will help you on.
I would recomend to go with HakkaQ`s but really pay attention to size of the tires.
You don`t want the wide tire. Try getting 185 or 195 if you can.

I guess the ultimate test will be Jan 7th on the first Ice race I`ll be driving old 98 rs with HakkaQ`s and my friend has a 00 rs with Blizzaks.

PS. If you need some steel 15 inch subaru wheels, my friend has them.
That`s what I got.
Steel wheels are better for few reasons.
If you hit something, most of the times you`ll bend a $40 wheel, leaving hub and a strut straight. But I learned the hard way.
Last winter i hit the curb - nothing serious I thought cuz it wasn`t a hard hit. Stock wheels are pretty hard - it had a small mark but I had to change a strut, hub, bearing, seals and do an alignment.
Hope that helps.

I just bought some steelies and I'm looking myself for some Blizzaks. There are a few different Blizzaks. WS50, MZ01, MZ02 and a few more. Or I might go with the Artic Alpines, we'll see.
