Default Speedline Corse wheels from Tire Rack

Question for Luke...

I found a page on the Tire Rack site that say's "The Tire Rack is now the official importer of Italy’s Speedline Corse wheels." But I'm not seeing any Speedline wheels anywhere on the site...

Question is... Are the 17" Speedline 2015 sc cast magnesium wheels available for an '04 STi application?

http://www.fourstarmotorsports.com/C...dline_2015.jpg

(Sorry to link to someone else's site, but since they not anywhere on Tire Rack's...)

Are there any other of the Speedline rally wheels that will fit an STi?

Thanks!

Andy

Speedline has dropped out of the aftermarket wheel business ...... so, we can not get them any longer

You positive Luke? I just ordered a set of Speedline Turini's not too long ago...

I called up David at Speedline UK, and had a set of 18x8 Turini's in Gold shipped from the UK to my door in 2 days. I even managed to mess one up (don't ask) and another call to David got me a replacement wheel in no time, and that was only like 3 weeks ago.

Also, the 3 DC Shoes STi's that were built for the Gumball 3000 (featured in Modified Magazine) had Speedline Turini's on them also, same as mine. I actually found out when I ordered mine direct from the UK. David was like, "We just shipped out 3 sets to some guys in the US for the DC Shoes cars being built for the Gumball 3000."

BTW, the wheel pictured is not available for Subaru's anyway. They only have 2 styles available. One is the Turini and the other is the GT1.

this is a recent announcement and I'm sure there is some remaining stock throughout the world but, Speedline was bought out and the new owners informed us that they are only going to produce original equipment wheels in the future

Well, that is some sad news...

Speedline has always made exceptional motorsport wheels, and the customer versions were very nice offerings...

Maybe I should stock up while they still have them

Just a quick update for everyone about Speedline wheels. I just talked to my contact over at Speedline Corse UK, and the above statements are not entirely true. It is true they have stopped selling to smaller dealers, like the Tire Rack, but they are not out of the aftermarket wheels business at all.

What the parent company in Italy is doing now is selling in quantity to their European dealer, Speedline Corse UK, and they in turn will supply the end user like me. Most of the smaller dealers didn't sell enough wheels to warrent dealer ship in other countries, so Speedline Corse UK now fills that gap.

For inquiries about Speedline wheels, please contact David at dwilliams@speedlinecorse.co.uk or call 011 44 1952 582825.

Cheers!

"Smaller" dealers like Tirerack, huh?

So the whole U.S. market is so "small" they can't be bothered? Sounds like you got spun a bit. I wonder what the real issue is?

Didn't get spun at all...

Actually, the total volume of Speedline wheels sold in the US pales in comparasion to the UK. Speedline UK does about 75% motorsport sales, to rally teams, and the like, who order a volume of wheels. In the US, Speedline only appeals to a very narrow group of enthusiasts, generally speaking.

Instead of saying smaller dealers, I should have said, small number of wheel sold. That would be much more accurate.

In any event, Speedline is still in business, and does offer aftermarket wheels. You just have to get them direct from Speedline UK, that's all.

My 5 Speedline Turini's are proof of it

Given the prestige of the Speedline brand and how great their wheels look, I bet someone could make a real business out of becoming their U.S. importer.

Tirerack didn't ever sell the good Speedline Corse stuff, did they? Just the styled street wheels which were pretty lame. Maybe that was the problem.

I mean, who could resist...

That's kind of what I'm saying. The wheels pictured above are full magnesium motorsport spec, and most people would cringe at the price. Enthusiasts may pay the price, but we are definitely the minority.

The Turini's I have also come in full magnesium motorsport spec, and are very light. The drawback is that they are 3 times the price at about $1,300 each, and you have to order 3 sets of wheels before they will make them. Not sure about most people out there, but I know I don't have a spare 15 grand laying around to buy some wheels...

That would explain why the Tire Rack never sold "the good stuff" as you put it

My thoughts exactly! And the "good stuff" is magnesium, not cast aluminum... Now if only I could find some weight info on those...
