Default Legacy DOHC ? 2.5?

On the application chart in the link below:
http://www.venom-performance.com/App...0%20Subaru.htm

Can anyone tell me which one of those 2.5 legacys on the bottom of the list is the same exact same as a 98 Impreza DOHC? same for ECU as well.
Thanks,
john

The one on the bottom comes close, but no cigar. The 1996 Legacy Phase 1 DOHC were listed as 155 HP. The 1997 Phase 1 is 165 HP.

Oh well, no venom for late models listed...

I was unaware that they made 2.5L legacies in 95? You might wanna just call somebody and find out. My guess is that it's a typo.

2.5L Legacy's did indeed exist in 1995.

I think the 2.2L came with the Brighton and L/L+ trims, and the 2.5L was with the LS and LSi trim.

I had a 95 FWD 2.2L L+, and I do remember when buying it that I passed up on the 2.5L because of price.

VK,
The 2.5 did not come out until 96, 06/95, which is a 96 model year and it only came in automatics.

Thanks BucksWRX, that's what I thought. The 2.5L engine came out for the 96my legacies.

From what I heard, 96 2.5s don't have the problems of other phase 1 blocks.

The only problems I've heard with the phase I blocks were the possible head gasket failures (which I think I have now). I think the reason was that Subaru decided to use a more cost effective (read: cheap) head gasket with a sandwich-type design. The phase II engines went back to the solid design.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 96 2.5L didn't have as many problems. That being said, 96 2.5L owners were also graced with a 10hp deficit and the honor of using premium pump gas (92AKI or better). hehe.
