Default anyone in tx running a green or SZ on an sti?

basically like it says. I'm trying to find out

1) how much money it costs to take a stock STi, put a green on it, get it tuned, and not blow it up in TX. Including supporting mods, etc. Basically a max price figure to do it right.

2) if there is anyone in the state that can tune something like this SAFELY and OPTIMALLY. I'm not interested in 'break-in' tunes, or "i'll be making mad power someday when I get it all worked out" tunes.

3) what's a good ballpark for 1/4 mile times that a green'd STi will run? again, not theory, timeslips.

I've tried proven power bragging and the 2.5L forums, but frankly it doesnt help me one bit to know what someone halfway across the country is running.

green $1200
PE 650 or 880 $5-700
FMIC $1G
TBE $7-1000
EM $1000+

these prices are ballpark for new but if u can find used, in good condition, go for it.

Tuning the UTEC is done down in houston unless u can get clark to come here and use someone's dyno, o/w count on a street tune $200/hr

Green on pump mid to low 12's
Green on race gas high to mid 11's.

these are just what i remember from the top of me head.

don't forget the fuel pump for another $100.

I'm looking at doing the same or similar set-up, ...halfway there, still need the turbo, inhectors and pump. ...oh and a custom PDX, "Jarrad" re-tune.

I vote for Jarad & ECUtek. He was in the car when i was getting my car tuned and then getting arrested.

I have heard good things about his tunes and if you do go for his tune then i will go with yah and retune my car.

this is my understanding of it:
jarrad, who lives in oregon, but used to live in houston will come down to houston if a dyno day is set up. usually 10-15 people will chip in for this plane tix, hotel, etc and then pay for tuning at a houston area dyno facility reserved in advanced by the person organizing the dyno day.

or u can ask for a base map to download and to use and then get a tune.

or someone w/ great knowledge of the UTEC can tune it for you locally or someone closer.

They are going to talk you into getting a CAI and a fuel pump before you tune your car. Be prepared to say no or just buy them and put them on yourself.

There tunes are good for street driving from what i have gathered but if you drag or autoX your car it isn't to great.

Awesome, thanks for the info, yeah I'll do the fuel pump myself, think I can even get ahold of a cai, still not sure if it's even worth it on a stock turbo though with basic bolt ons

I got rotated mount 35r and I can tell you it has been an expensive road to travel. cause you got to do custom everything. oh and your gonna need a clutch. You drive a green too hard it will take your clutch out. figure that in as well.

I live in wichita KS and am looking for an ecutek tuner. I'd be willing to go in on getting Jarrad down there for a tune. If there is ever a list generated to get him down to Houston please hit me up or let me know. I'm looking to do this very soon and am waiting for a reply from Jarrad in regards to get him to come out this way.

I have a SZ49 in a 2004 STi on 93 octane at full wieght (wingless and no spare...like I drive every day). Last run was was in 75-80 degree temps and 80-90% humidity. I ran 12.58 @ 110.65 with a launch in the high 1.80's and the car knocking and coming on boost slowly (I had a loose hose). I would gather the car has a 12.3 @ 113 in the 90+ degree heat...I'll find out Sunday if my clutch is up to it. Maybe 11.999 in the cold.

I may be selling my SZ49, downpipe, uppipe, and external wastegate before it gets cold though. I want 11's in the heat without using race gas, alky injection, or gutting the car.

the uppipe will need to be custom made that will be the toughest thing to have done. everything else should be fine. the perrin big maf is a good idea but not totally nessassary. buy plenty of new underwear that green is gonna make you soil yourself.
