Default AVO Japan - Introduction thread

Hello everybody,
Just like to introduce AVO officially into the vendor area. Some people already know me, but thought it would be good to explain the company. AVO Japan is part of the larger AVO turboworld operation, which originates in the Melbourne area of Australia. AVO Japan, however, is a tuning shop that has been running for over 3 years in Tokyo, Japan. We are a Subaru specialist, with an emphasis on, what else, AVO turbo's, intercoolers, and other high performance parts.

We offer the full lineup of AVO turbo's and intercoolers for both American and JDM vehicles, along with a few other bits and pieces unique to our location here in Japan.

I'd like to announce our two new turbo's for sale at this time;

AVO 400 L -

http://www.avoturboworld.com/avoshop...roducts_id=122
AVO's 400L ball bearing turbo is part of the 'Edge Series' family, the ultimate in high-flow/high-response bolt-on solutions. This turbo has been optimized for high-response performance on 2.5-liter motors, and as great solution for 2.2-liter stroker kit motors.

AVO 400 S -

http://www.avoturboworld.com/avoshop...roducts_id=106
The AVO 400S ball-bearing turbo has been optimized specifically to work with 2.0-liter EJ20 motors. Part of the 'Edge Series' family, this S-Type is our dual duty race and street turbo, designed for a blend of high response and devastating power.

We have lots more, from every revision of the GC/GF8 WRX/STi and on up! Please feel free to pm with questions!

Cheers,

Paul Hansen

I'll get the flow information some time tomorrow.
JDM STi heads, I'd give a conditional yes on getting them new from the dealer. I will verify this with them tomorrow, but I don't see it as being that difficult (unlike, say, brand new S203 parts).

Yes, we can supply Ver. 7, 8, and 9 heads (or to be a little clearer, heads from revision A through F). Just remember that there is a host of small parts (cams, valves, etc.) that need to be purchased at the same time.

Hi Paul,

Welcome.

I just wanted to let the folks here know, if they weren't aware, that you have a pretty good following over on legacygt.com.

I have an order in for some interior bits I am currently waiting for those to arrive, so far I am pleased.

Hi, did I understand your original post, you are a tuning shop? If so, I would love to see some dynos on these turbos, so I can look at spool up and the torque curve.

Are these bolt ons, or do I have to have a FMIC or some other odd bits?

Thanks!

Hello Justin,

I'll try and get a full quote for the entire head assembly. The head itself isn't too expensive, it's going to be all the other parts that pump up the price a bit. If I can itemize it here, I will.

Yes, a full tuning shop here in Japan. I'll dig up some of the dyno curves we have from a few of the STi's and WRX's that we have tuned here in Japan. Do note that those are for 2.0 JDM cars. There is also curves and information available at the mothership: www.avoturbo.com , which I'm updating as quickly as possible.

AVO worldwide is a turbo builder, much more than just a tuner. We have our own factory for castings of turbo, which use a Garrett ballbearing core. Then there is the intercoolers as well, fmic and tmic. It's actually too long to list, I've been working on the online store on and off for a year, and really only have about 20-30% of what AVO offers up there, max.

AVO Japan as a tuning shop helps expand the operation as we can get hold of the latest Subaru's before anybody else can. Plus the owner, Ross Wilson, has been working with turbocharged Subaru's from the initial 1993 WRX/STi onwards - one of his personal cars is the no.004 GF8 STi Wagon.

Oh, and yes, these are full bolt-on turbo's which are water and oil-cooled. You don't need any special equipment for them, unless you are planning to step up to something custom, which we can do as well.

Cheers,

Paul Hansen

Hello Seth,

A full line of turbochargers, intercoolers (fmic and tmic), piping, intakes, carbon bits, and more. If it's not on the store, it's probably only because we haven't gotten to getting it up yet. Look under GC8/GF8 a, b, and c revision.

I'll remeber that, I might want to. Yeah 2.0 liter dynos are fine.

Hello Paul,
I would like to know if AVO offers a stiffer replacement spring for their solid response boost controller ( boost actuator ). I will be expecting to push the boost pretty high with my AVO 500. If available let me know where I can get one.

Hello Thomas,

The AVO 500 should have shipped with an 18lb solid boost actuator, which you can tighten up to pretty much anything you should need with that turbo. We do have a 20lb solid boost actuator, but that is overkill, frankly. Our smaller turbo's ship with the 15lb actuator.

Paul thank you for your response. My application is primarily for off road usage, not street. I have a modified ver7 RA motor. Can the 20lb spring be purchased seperately ? If so where can I order one ?

Thank you,

TR

Paul,

Welcome aboard.

On the 400S...more info please. Need to know more info before considering spending 2k on a turbo.

Wondering how it flows compaired to a Force Performance 18G (600cfm)? And how much faster it will spool with a FMIC compaired to the FP18G?

Another dyno sheet that I dug up of an AVO 450 fitted to a WRX 2.0-liter, baseline vs. AVO 450 with exhaust, intake, and dyno tune.

Keep in mind this is for a 2.0 motor again. And a WRX, not an STI. We generally recommend the AVO 450 as the starting point for the 2.5-liter motors, as it will spool up much quicker on those.

Cheers,

Paul Hansen

The AVO intake pipe flows about 30% better than stock.
