I have a chance to get some cheap 75% tread left RE070's but I wanna have some tires for autocross since I have daily driven wheels and tires. so how would these tires compare to the old azenis new aznies and the hankooks people use for autocross. if its around the old falken azenis grip I'd be happy. any experence? anyone?

I have been satisfied with my 070's in most cases. However for the conditions I encounter, I will not put 070s back on when its time for new rubber.
Getting used 070s would depend on price ( new they are quite pricey ), you might be able to buy real streetable auto-x tire for the same price. I know several people who run Kumho v700 ecstas for minor street and auto-x, and there is no competition between v700's and 070's. |

If the take off's are cheap go wtih them. They are very good tires. I would take them over the Azenis ST 215's and it would be close between them and the new Azenis 615's. The RS2's are great tires as well, but initially don't offer the grip of the RE070's or Azenis'. They are by far the best street tire of the bunch though.

....about the ONLY thing that I don't like about the Hankooks is that they squeal a bit when pushed, where the 215 Falkens(and MX's) never really did....other than that....they ROCK----for the $$$......they do NOT have nearly as stiff a sidewall....so if that is important, then one of the others...the 615 or the re070 would be better....I did not like the 215's for the street, much.

One thing I do not like about RE070 is its weight at 27 lbs. Problem is that you won't likely find similar tires with such stiff sidewall.

i got like new takeoffs (2-3k milage if that) for around 300 dollars. It's a great tire and for less than 1/2 the price of something like the 615's, which i was going to go with, it's a pretty easy answer. It is a heavy tire, that is definantly a tradeoff for the super stiff sidewalls.
