Default Head replacement Budget

Thought I would share the my $ numbers for the head job that I am about to complete.

2 1/4 Ton Engine Hoist - $ 150 (Advance Auto Parts)
750 lb engine stand - $ 40 (Advance Auto Parts)
Both Heads Resurfaced - $ 47 (Total for both)
Torx Plus Bit for Cam Cap Cover - $ 20.00 (Snap On)
12 Point 14 MM Socket for Head Bolts - $ 18.00 (Snap On)
Feeler Gauges - $ 5.00 (Advance Auto Parts)
Head Gaskets - $ 26.88 each ($ 53.76 total) (Van's Auto Parts)
Front CAM Seals - $ 3.75 each ( $ 7.50 total) (Van's Auto Parts)
Head Bolts - $ 67.00 a set ( $ 134.00 total) (Van's Auto Parts)

TOTAL = $ 475.26

This will help me out later

Not to hijack your thread, but if you wanted to remove the valve springs and retainers, what do you need? Do you need a specific tool from Subaru? I heard that you do, but I don't know for sure.

No Prob !

Check the thread entitled "Help with crank/cam pulleys and timing belt" below on this same page. It is not necessary on my 2.5 DOHC because it has hydraulic valves that realign themselves.
