FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Team Stompy and Zzyzx Motorsports join forces for Solo Nationals
Joel Fehrman and Tommy Pulliam, of Atlanta, GA, drivers of the 2005 Subaru WRX STi affectionately known as "Stompy", have partnered with Steve Sulatycki of Zzyzx Motorsports, Inc., of Overland Park, KS, for the 2005 Tire Rack SCCA Solo National Championships in Topeka, KS. Joel and Tommy plan to pursue the E Streep Prepared (ESP) class title using a newly designed coilover suspension from Zzyzx Motorsports. The coilover design incorporates an all-aluminum housing utilizing Koni double-adjustable race shocks.

"Steve has solved many of the geometry issues common to aftermarket coilover suspensions for the Subaru WRX," Joel says. The Zzyzx Motorsports design offers unprecedented compression and droop travel, along with a range of alignment and clearance adjustability previously unavailable. "I now have the static camber and toe settings that I need, along with clearance for 285 width tires. In addition I have nearly 7 degrees of caster. That kind of alignment was simply not a possibility with previous coilover designs."

The benefits of the Zzyzx Motorsports coilover design are not limited to geometry improvements. The incorporation of the race-proven Koni 8611 series shock design allows for extensive and predictable adjustment of compression and rebound damping. Joel hopes that this combination will provide the edge they need to overcome the tough competition in Topeka. "Some of my competitors have invested heavily in products from Moton and other top damper manufacturers. I feel that we have the damping characteristics we want along with the best coilover design available on the market specifically tailored to our Subaru. As a competitor, the primary issue we face is finding the right mix of camber, castor, bump travel, droop travel, clearance and damping. The Zzyzx Motorsports coilovers address all our needs - it's a complete solution."

I may have to take vacation to come see that.

I'd love to have a set of those coilovers too, but I haven't won the Powerball lately.

Maybe I can scrape together enough money to talk Steve out of the 16" Slipstreams he used to run on the RS ( if he still has them ).

I'm kinda suprised none of these English majors pointed out "Joel and Tommy plan to pursue the E Streep Prepared (ESP)"

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go drool over pictures of those coilovers.

Frickin' beautiful.

Those are the Noltec tops in front and Cusco in rear right?

Man those slots look huge.

What are the new springrates?

Still not using a rear sway bar?

Go out there and dominate guys!

Steve,

What's your trade in policy on the previous design Zzyzx Motorsports coilovers... I think we need to upgrade. They are nicer and I like the fact that you threaded the body for the knuckles so we can keep travel at our ride height (similar to Tien Flex). The advantage is the better dampers and tire clearance in the rear as well as the droop/travel. We love our current (previous) design zzyzx coilovers. They were the best on the market for any subaru application... until these new designs came out!

Are these using the same dampers in our version of your coilovers? Just wondering if we could just get the housings, kunckles, collars and be set since we've got dampers springs, tops already, etc. LMK.

Stompy is going to have lots of guys look up under those fender wells at nats this year.

Steve... make sure we discuss pricing for a set of these at Nats... I'm going to want a set for sure, you know us semi locals swear by your products.

They are Noltec and Cusco. Steve is working on his own design, which I will switch to as soon as they are done. The Noltec fronts are not bad, but I'll be happy to change the rears out. I'm sure Steve's design will be superior to both.

Springrates are very close to where we've been since May. 650# front, 500# rear (plus 250# tender), Strano front bar, no rear bar.

They look great! I really like how they thread through the inner part of the lower mounting bracket. Fill us all in on the pricing details and specs.

I believe Steve is heading to Topeka today, so it may be a minute before he can respond. I know he has not yet finallized pricing on these coilovers yet as there is still some negotiating to do on the supplier side.

I stuck my head under that car earlier today. Those things are DAMN nice. I heard, "Those look like they came from the Terminator 3 movie!" I agree. Steve should seek a patent on that bottom bracket. Tein has already made the threaded bracket popular, but it still uses a ring* to keep it in place.

I'd really like to know how much more tire can be fitted, and the price.

Also, I can imagine that anybody with Tein Flex or similar coilovers on ANY car would like aluminum brackets like these.

*The ring is supposed to be tightened to 100ft/lb with nifty spanners that have a square hole for your torque wrench.

Anyone see a price on these yet?

And anyone watch his car out on the course, or have any video of it to see how the car handled? If the price is reasonable, and they are in stock, I need a set in a week or two, CC in hand and READY TO ORDER!
