Thumbs up First football game with the new setup...

Finally, some good HDTV source content for the projector. Mmmmm.

Nothing like having a nice bright 18 monitor right below your TV as a distraction.

Good set up though, what'd the projector run you?

The monitor is on because I was posting and talking on IRC during halftime... it stays off while I'm watching.

Ed -- whenever you want.

Sitting 10 feet away from an 8 foot wide screen is scary... even scarier is trying to play GT4 on it.

The projector is a Mitsubishi X-30U that I bought for cheap off a friend... it's an ultraportable DLP, 1024x768 native. I use a transcoder to go from 720p (for action) component out of my cable box to VGA into the projector (since it doesn't have native HDTV support on the component inputs).

Works out well. I'm not using all of the available screen space in 16:9, and it's just projecting onto a wall with normal white paint, but the contrast is sufficient as long as I keep the lights off and the shades drawn (during the daytime).

/Andrew

Actually, Ed...

You can only come over if you promise to tune my UTEC for me.

Oh yeah -- that's a 20" monitor.

So you didn't answer the question. How much cash money did you drop for that?

$500!

Only had 20 hours on the bulb. One of the NESIC guys was getting rid of it after his wife presumably told him to sell off some of his stuff.

I'm happy to tune your UTEC. I'll bring my etch-a-sketch and hook into your parallel port.

Go Pats!

Awesome! I'll make sure to have the null modem connector.
