'04 STi struts on '02 WRX?

Anybody know if the red struts of an 04' STI will fit onto an 02' WRX ? thanks !

They will fit, but you will need the 04+ tophaps in the rear.

The struts will fit.

If you're using the STi springs as well (04 style), you'll also need 04 style rear strut tops.

If you're using them with 02 style springs/strut tops, you'll need a washer in the rear because the 04 struts don't mate perfectly with the older tops. Even when fully tightened, they're not fully tightened - if ya know what I mean. The washer takes up the play.

Where exactly would the washer go.

I have a clunk clunk problem in the rear and I know its something with the tophats.
