OK, first thing first....I SEARCHED..and only found one close up pic...
I unplugged what i thought was the right one and got a CEL and no cruise control and still had DRL.....not successful All threads I find say behind glove box...but the picture floating around here seems to show weather molding on it as if it was closer to the pass. door. So i took 2 pictures of my car. This is where i thought the plug was located ![]() After that I removed the black plug which made me have to reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery to get rid of the damn CEL ![]() What am I doing wrong guys??.....Thanks in advance

Some have unplugged the DRL switch without removing the glovebox. It'll require a little bit of finesse and some nimble fingers (a bit of patience helps too). It's a little more time consuming taking off the glovebox, but it's pretty easy also - just remove all of the Phillips screws (about 8-10 - can't recall for sure) and the box will come off.

Easiest way to tell, dont remove anything just look up behind the box its the only white one you can access without removing anything.

Remove the glovebox...it's around 10 screws and takes ~2 minutes. Very easy, I used the same pic that Hank3 provided.

You can also disconnect the DRL from under the hood. I took the whole DRL unit out.

Does anyone know what number/type of relay it is? I just hate to kepe things unplugged like that...on my e36 M3 I just exchanged the type of relay and had the choice of DRLs or no DRLs.....And I think I still have my no-DRL relay laying around somewhere...

Are you going to remove your seatbelts too? The DRL is a proven safety feature, like seatbelts - their use is mandatory in most of Europe and Canada, and driving a car that is supposed to have DRL with them disconnected is a sizeable fine in most jurisdictions.

....and who the hell will check on you daily IF your 05/06 Subaru came with them?
PS: Never heard of anyone getting pulled over/ticketed for "no DRLs" |

I think the cops in newyork have bigger things to worry about. Theyre def not thinking about if people disconnected their daytime running lights.

DRL are for those instances where you dont need headlights, but you DO need some sort of light for other people to see you (morning fog, dawn, dusk...) If you have trouble unplugging the module, how can I expect you to remember to turn on your lights?

I thought it was easier than that? All I had to do was unplug the silver thing in the engine bay?

The module in the engine bay is a dropping resistor, and it does not fully disable the DRL system. The plug next to the glove box is the main control module. I recommend the glovebox one just in case one ever goes to HIDs. Not unplugging the glovebox one will cause your HIDs to flicker and perhaps some other whacky things.
