any excess oil evaporation (fumes) usually feed back back into the intake make a sticky mess inside your intake, the catch can catches it and keeps it in the can...gets emptied every now and then...check your stock hoses going to the intake coming from each side of engine and the hose inside should be pretty oily...

Oil catch cans aren't really a power mod but a preventative mod. Like FriedIceCream said it keeps the intake from getting oiled up. I actually have 2 on my miata, one for the pcv and another for the breather.

you can have both, I believe one of the nissan forums actually reccommends it for the sr20det because it has relatively higher crankcase pressure. But then again if you making a financial reference then start saving them pennies.

Is that the Helix Oil Catch can, looks good whatever it is.

Perrin sells an oil catch can under their "Sti" section so it must be useable for turbo cars.

I remember reading this when I was thinking abotu oil catch cans. The first part is somewhat informative if youre still unclear as to the benifits of oil catch cans, the second part is the DIY guide.

Question huh?

Not a useless mod, just a useless picture. I can't eve see your catch can, only the re-routed PVC piping. take a better picture, stand on a 3-foot ladder or something.
