Exclamation 98 rs engine hydrolic lifters

my engines hydorlic lifters need adjustment is it an easy job to do by your self or do you need a mechanic and if mechanic whats the going rate of this job?

Your 98RS does not have hydraulic lash adjusters. It has a shim and bucket design. HLA's went bye-bye from the DOHC EJ25 in '96.

You may want to make sure the noise you're hearing isn't piston slap instead of valve tapping.

Your year of motor is known to develop this issue by design. Dealers can determine if this is infact the problem and swap the shortblock to a new(er) design. It's a recall-type thing so I'm not sure about timelimits to have it checked. I'd take it to your dealer and have them check it out more thoroughly.

Thank you sooo much man once car gets out of shop (accident) ill have it brought to my local dealership i have 3 so i got to find which one people say is the best.... i was already sacving for a new engine but really didnt want to... thanks man
