Question This or that

Well Pops is looking to get a new sports car, its down to these

G35 coupe track edition with AWD package.... or 06 STi with performance package. I think 05 STi, but he digs the 06, to each his own. What are your opinions, he goes on these forums like everyday, maybe hell see.

And my decision, cant decide what to do for exterior. I have 18" bronze enkies, but im looking for a lip. Cant decide front splitters and fog covers, or just splitters and keep fogs. And last is the STi JDM front lip with fogs and or covers. What do you think of the JDM rear lip things, that just kinda stick on i guess, i dunno i think they look akward but found a package for painted, front lip and rear lip.

Birthdays coming up in 3 days, hoping to get some money. Im hoping 500, either 500 exterior or 500 engine, hrmm. Any advice appreciated.

Chris

I always go performance before looks. I'd put the $500 into the engine.

The STI will far outperform the G35. The G35 looks a lot better though. I'd get the STi over the G35.

This is kind of a tough call. The G35 is a beautiful car, but the STi is a beast. I say test drive them both and make your decision. I would go with the STi.

Huh?....I never knew you could get an AWD G35 coupe. You can however get a G35 AWD sedan, but you really can't compare the two as they cater to two different crowds.

$500 on the engine, better fast than look good.

if you're dad likes looks better then get g35 but if he wants power and performance then the sti.

my friend just got a g35. Its much more upscale than any subie. It had 19 forged inch rims too. crazy. If I were your father, assuming he's old, haha, I'd probably get the G35. It's just a more grown up car compared to the STi. Although with that money, i'd probably get something different altogether.

Default drive both

I don't believe the AWD is available in the G35 coupe, only the sedan. He should drive both and go from there. Very different cars here. I used to have acura cl type s and now have an STI. There are a lot of differences to consider when comparing a luxary sport coupe with the STI. I love both cars and wouldn't try to recommend one for someone else but here is a general comparison of things I considered when I went with the STI.

My summary is:

The Infiniti is a luxary sport coupe with upscale/refined interior. There are tons of amenities you can get on these things. If I am correct this is only a rear wheel drive. Something to consider in bad climates. Definitely a performance car but not all out like the STI. Only 2 doors. Looks attract attention but I would not call it flashy.

STI is not upscale per se with a more basic interior, definitely flashier, and will outperform the Infiniti. When I say STI is not upscale, I'm not referring to the cost but rather the perception others will have. In my opinion, to most people, they don't see this car as upsclae compared to the Infiniti even though it costs about the same. They just perceive it as a Subaru. Top notch reliability from Subaru, Five star frontal offset, and four star side crash rating are a plus. All wheel drive is nice for all types of weather. Most people choose a different tire setup for winter though. Four doors on the STI and only 2 for the G35. Will be very noisy compared to the G35 in terms of road noise, differential noise, and engine noise.

Both are good choices.

The AWD is in the G35 Sedan, not the Coupe.

They're basically the same car but one has a V6 instead of the turbo. The AWD G35 Sedan is much slower than the STi though. The G35 is also a lot less juevanille however and would be more fitting for someone your father's age.

Basically you trade some speed for good looks and comfort when comparing the two cars. All the talk in the world can't replace the amount of info you can get from a test drive though. Go that route first and see which appeals the most to him.

As far as the 05 vs the 06 I'm in the same delima. I'm leaning towards the 2006 STi just because of all the improvements they made over the previous models.
