Default super secret storage compartment: what do you use it for?

behind the rear seat there are two storage compartments. The drivers side houses the jack and toolkit while the passenger side is supposed to be empty. I hold an extra quart of oil in there (it fits perfectly).

What does everyone else use it for?

I keep a first aid kit in the left rear pocket, batteries and hand warmers in the right rear pocket, extra oil in the spare tire cover, and a bike pump, torque wrench, and sockets in the skinny super-extra-secret compartment at the base of the rear seats. There are three storage compartments back there in the Forester!

how much room is behind the seat when it is up?

Infinity makes a 3 sub speaker enclosure for trucks and I am wondering if it will fit behind the seat.

40-1/4"W x 14-3/4"H x 6-1/2"(D1), 3-3/4"(D2)

I've already got a lady, and her bed is my bed, so that wouldn't really get me much.

I put my reciever hitch in the compartment so it won't go flying around and hit me in the event of a sudden stop or other emergency manuever.

I bet there's 3.75" back there, I have a portable air compressor that I store back there for when I go cycling. Its probably close to 3 or so inches and it has room to spare. The 40" across though may not be available though. That's pretty darn wide.

Hmmm not a secret anymore... I didnt even notice that there is a jack type compartment on the passenger side. Now I have more storage. (I have the behind the rear seat cargo net already to stash stuff in)

I keep tie-down straps and sunscreen (I'm one pale mo-fo) in mine. I keep a 400watt inverter in the center console.
