Default Attn: Luke - Help with Slick Tire Sizing

What rough size would I be looking for for a WRX sedan. I'm a little confused in the tire sizing for Slicks. Just as an example... I have seen a 215-615-R17 that looks to be close to a 225-40-17. What is the "615"?

Since I've got several sets of extra wheels and a pretty well sorted out suspension, I thought I might get a set of slicks for my next event.

Anybody out there know?

Thanks,
JD

That middle number is the overall diameter (approx.) in MM.

615 = ~24.2 inches, which is about the height of a 225/40/17 (that's an unusual size; not typically seen in the U.S.).

I've actually been curious about that for a while now myself... but since I'm [a.] too poor to afford real slicks, and [b.] pretty damn lazy... I never actually looked it up.. thanks for the info gergr
