Default okay now i'm confused

I was having idle problems with my car so i made the assumption that it was my fuel filter since i hadn't changed it in close to 25,000 miles anyway so i went ahead and did it anyway-that did get rid of some of the problems but i'm still having some of them

a rough idle, every now and then when sitting at idle shortly after i start my car at an intersection it will jump up to 2k+ and slowly drop

sometimes after starting it will idle at approx 1,000 and won't drop down to normal til i've been driving for several minutes sometimes not at all.

a rough start, sometimes it will struggle to start acting like it's not getting gas to the engine-my car is an auto and it acts like a stick without fuel injection

when i changed the fuel filter i also added an auxilary inline fuel filter (one of those cool clear ones from GI joes) and i ran some injector cleaner with my next fill of gas

I need help to say the least, it's really frustrating...

bad gas, bad plugs, bad wires...ecu reset in order.

My idle is rather odd as well, but from what I've read its kinda subaru trademark

Good luck,

if all of the above fails, try some seafoam and clean out your intake, injectors, etc...

I've had this on vehicles before and it was usually egr related. Check to see if all your emmisions stuff is working ok. Idle can be affected by vacuum, and vacuum can be affected by emmisions...

If coil, wires, plugs, fuel check good, then Idle Air Solenoid or throttle body in that order. Some walk throughs that I've posted previously...

IAS walk through POST # 10.

TB walk through POST # 5.

Alright, my plugs and wires are brand new with less than 3,000 miles. I'm going to jump to the conclusion that it's either the Idle control sensor, good thing i have one of those sitting around-i just hope it's still good.

I know that strange idling is kind of a subaru trademark but this is out of the ordinary, and has this strange way of seeming "not right", I'll throw on that sensor and see if it works.
