5 years for Mechanical Engineering. That was with 14 to 18 units a semester, plus 6 units per summer. Reason why it took 5 years is thanks to the pre-req setup, the high demand for classes and the lack of offered sections. Don't go to a state school.

I have you all beat! but I wish I didn't, I started in Fall of 1996 and I am finishing at the end of this quarter, Fall of 2005. I started when I was 18 and I'm finishing at 27 years old. I did take a lot of time off and I was working part time and full time as well. A lot of people go to school 9 years...their called doctors.

It took me 4 years for mechanical engineering, and I also went to a state school. If you weren't able to take certain courses at certain times then you would have no choice but to take an extra semester. I had to fight and argue with guidance every semester to open up extra sections of classes.

Man, I don't know what schools you went to, but I went to a state school and was taking classes in my major and the big university pre-reqs first semester. And my major classes were never more than 60 people.

It is going to take me 4 year and 2/3rds years. The main issue is going from a school with semesters to quarters made me lose two quarters of learning.

7 years, including a change of major in year three that required 4 years to complete.
