Quick question

Im new to the whole subaru thing, and im looking at getting a 98 impreza wagon sport. What engine is that, is it the same as the 2.5RS?...and is it modifiable?

No, it is the 2.2L....it is modable but not very.

well the car im looking at is mostly a fun winter car, so basically, i just want to spice it up a little with like an intake/exhaust...so those kinds of things

The 2.2 is a great engine in that it will run forever. This one makes more H/P stock than earlier 2.2's. Unfortunatly you are stuck with the single exhaust port heads so that limits you to Borla's for headers, but any of the other exhaust parts from the 2.5's will fit. You will also have to make a somewhat custom intake, they are plenty of threads on this and it is not difficult.
To improve handling these cars respond nicely to better shocks and heavier rear sway bars.
If you feel up to it later you could drop in the 2.5L engine, cheap and easy swap.
