Question Where can i find an aftermarket intake for my 95 jdm ej20 motor?

I've got a 95 jdm ej20 motor in my gc8. I've got the exhaust done, the was easy because it was the same as the newer usdm wrx's. But i'm looking to get a better turbo inlet pipe. I can't find any that will fit.
Am i going to have to make a custom one, or does anybody know some that will fit and whatnot. I could make one easy, but gettin all the extra lines connected would be a bitch.

MRT makes some parts for your car's inlet. What parts are you looking for specifically? If you just wanted to do it stock, USDM Legacy turbo is the same. I have some of the parts in my garage...

i want to say yes i have the 90 degree but i'll have to go double check.
the main reason i want to change is because the plastic piece that put bov recirc back into the intake broke off, and since i have an atmospheric bov, i've just been covering it w/ ducttape, and that can't go on much longer.
it's just so big and clumpy, seems to me like a bigger diameter straigther inlet pipe would improve performance, but maybe i'm wrong. i'll post a pic up in a few hours.

I broke the same piece
So I did a custom thing.

I routed all lines into the aluminium tube.

I now have a USDM WRX bov recirculated into the aluminium as well.

If you want to convert to a straight style inlet, it is a fair bit of custom work. You will want to source a '97 or '98 intake manifold so the inlet pipe can go under it. The bolt pattern will be the same, and you can use the current USDM inlet. But you will still need to either change your turbo, or make a custom fitting for the inlet to mate to it...

so yeah, it's definately a 90 degree inlet. I think i'm going to have to go w/ a custom piece like napphappy. nice work by the way. Also, i have a k&n cone filter on there now... do u think i'd get better power running a k&n in the stock air box (shielding it from the heat)?

you might want to ask the guys at kingpin who have alot of dyno experiance. several someones somwhere with alot of dyno time between differnt cars had reason to believe that keeping the stock airbox was the good.

I have had both. It seems to idle better(maybe not highest HP, I dont know) with the Air box. But cooler air is almost always better.
You could put the cone in the inner fender(cool air) and see how it runs.

Do you have any idea how much a 97/8 manifold would go for? Or do you know anyone that is selling them?

I know I sound like a freaking broken record, but I have one. PM me with an offer. I was saving it to sell with the heads, but if the price is right, it's yours...

Actually, if you take a read in MRT's book called WRX training, they discuss this and do the math with temps and airflow, etc. What the math says is that the increase in airflow far outweighs the impact of the temperature, and that an open K&N filter on an early WRX is going to make more power...

Interesting. That is if your intercooler is doing a good job. I would rather have a little less power than detonation.
Is that book available to read online? Sound interesting.
