Default intake manifold swap

I read in the subie sport mag the new impreza's have a new intake manifold that increases horsepower, anyone else considering askin dealerships if they can order a intake manifold and puttin it on your 2.5rs, if it isn't expensive I am seriously thinkin bout it, I had heard theres a difference in 2004 and 2005 intake manifolds and one mite be more powerful and lookin into which is better tho the 2006 sounds nice, I dunno is anyone else plannin on upgradin everythin on the stock motor instead of swappin?

at first I wasn't sure which was better the 2005 or 2004 cause some ppl with the 2004 were sayin they had the better one cause one is plastic and one is metal, and if the 2004 one was better I was considerin it, tho I read the article about the 2006 one and it seems nice and I'd wanna swap that one "the 'stacked' manifold that first appeared in the 2004 Impreza has been changed yet again to improve airflow into the engine" and I thought this with an upgraded throttle body and an injen intake would produce some nice flow into the engine.

how much did you pay for the plastic manifold. what year was it.
is this going to be a direct bolt on swap?

i believe there are a few things you have to have boxer4racing due but the actual bolting up is straight forward.

Not running to boxer4racing w/ cash in had- more interested in what was do to make it work. If that sounds plausible, then the next question is proven gains....... then ya sit back until a time when some opportunity offers said items at an attractive cost vs. entertainment factor.

Just flushing out the ideas here, no worry.

I purchased a plastic intake from him that is a direct fit for the 2.5 minus you have to make a spot for the maf sensor on the intake. they had it on there scca rs2.5 car and they claimed 5hp on a bone stock car with no other mods. he also told me that it made the under the hood temps cooler and it is lightweight. I paid 300 for a used one and i believe it is woth it considering bang for the buck. Also the hp gains will increase with a cold air intake and also throttle body work. I have a cold air intake and I am also looking into getting the tb ported soon. My new manifold goes on tomorrow and I will post on sunday if I feel a difference and I know that I wont be dissapointed. i have been talking to Dale from boxer4racing through out this process and I truly believe it is a worthy investment in a N/A setup. I have alsways gotten quick responses from Dale so dont worry I am sure he will reply asap but also remeber he is located in North Carolina and may not have power yet due to the storm.

http://www.subaruworld.net/rs/rs.htm

this is the link to it. go to the bottom and see the dyno sheet. My GF has a 05rs and she has a regular intake on hers and not a plastic one so i am not sure what year it came from but it is a genuine subaru piece. Also he took off the manifold from the car to compete in a different class in sccca if you are wondering why you dont see it in the mods list. why are you guys so anti doing this mod? I am just curious.

i dont think anyone is anti. i just think everyone is still in the research phase and being realistic. obviously it will not transfrom the car, but every little bit helps. We are all curious as to what the outcome will be. I havent read of anyone who has swapped to this manifold yet. I for one am curious as to what the total cost will be, and what the seat of the pants will tell you!!

Intake manifold is on and I will have pics up thursday night. So far without putting it on the dyno there is a noticeable power increase at 2500rpm's and up. You can hear the cold air intake pulling in more air to supply the engine and under the hood temperature is definately cooler and you can put your hand right on the manifold without burning yourself after driving. I cant wait to get it to the track and on the dyno.

i dunno, if there is so much gain why did hp numbers not change after the 03 to 04 manifold change.

since i have had a 03 rs and a 04 rs and felt no real gain i still dont agree with these numbers
