Default anyone local to the north shore wanna help me with an UP gutting/install?

the title basically says it all.

as of friday, i'll have a catback, DP, and 50ft of ThermoTec sitting in my garage. after reading up, i'm not spending a dime on an aftermarket UP, considering everyone seems to agree that gutting the stocker only takes about an hour of your time and a flex-shaft drill extension.

what i need help with, its the actual removal of the UP. i figured i'd attempt porting the headers while i've got them out (hinthint CRAZYMIKIE)...and wrap the UP/DP before reinstalling them.

anyone wanna help? i'll buy lunch (srry, no beer. being 19, they frown on me trying to purchase). i've got basically any and every hand tool known to man, plus a large number of power/pneumatic tools as well. **except my impact gun, that one ***** the bed, i need to have it rebuilt**

this could be a fun garage day too, if anyone else local has something they want to install

prior UP install knowledge is a huge plus. basically, someone who can say "hey if you lift this here, everything goes a lot faster", or something like that

i'm shooting to do this THIS weekend guys, seeing as i go back to work on monday, and wont have time to finish it all week.

Your best bet is to buy another UP and gut that then swap them out. The UP is bitch to gut as the cat is a metal substrate and can take many hours to remove.

hmm, i didnt realize it was a metal substrate cat. that changes things.

i may just skip the UP for now. i'd eventually like to get equal length headers, GPmoto's or GTSpec's, which both include UP's, and seeing as once i do my big plans for summer (Super16G/650cc's/walboro/tune), i'd like to go EWG too.

hmm, now i dont know if i want to justify that kind of time for a small gain in power, and especially since it'll probably be swapped out.

+ 100 on both counts, I would put aside a few days or eves to gut it, you will get so frustrated you will just quit in the middle of it. oh and where a mask or you will get cancer.

definitely do it! You can usually find people with extra OEM UPs that they'll just give away. Send me a PM if you want more details about gutting it, it's really not that bad. I'm very newb with cars and I was able to gut an extra that I acquired. It took me two sessions of drilling/banging, but that was because I realized that I needed different tools after I had started the job.
