Default Update on my setup

Started this awhile back and I have every thing on now so it’s updated and at final cost.

Set of used heads:..400.00
Pipe Seals...............12.00
Exhaust Man. Gasket.14.00
Intake Man. Gasket:..12.00
Valve Cover Gasket:..28.00
Cam Seals:..............16.00
Head Gaskets:.........70.00
Valve Guide Seals:....80.00
P&P Kit:..................53.00
Cams:...................130.00
Oil:........................20.00
filter:.......................5.00
Coolant:...................5.00
shipping for cams:.....30.00
Heads Milled:............70.00
Cams/journal polished.14.00
Valvesprings installed.30.00
Gray seal...................7.00
All new bolts.............35.00
Torxs socket..............6.00
Allen socket...............6.00
Assembly lube............5.00

Total……………….$1048.00

The heads were milled .010", Delta reground the cams and the heads were ported by my self and were flowing about 20cfm more at .350" lift. The total represents how much total I paid for everything to get them on my car and running. All the assembly was done by my self except for the valve springs and valves which was done by the machine shop. I was estimating a gain of around 30hp.

Mods already on the car:
COBB CAI
Borly Header
Strumong cat back
Unorthodox Crank Pulley
Excedy Flywheel and stage 1 clutch

Driving impressions
Right now where I am at the altitude is 7200ft. The car with everything on it feels like I am back at sea level or very close to it. I lost a little low end but the power band seemed to stay in the same area but careering more to redline and not falling off as much. Right around 4000rpm you can really feel the car pick up and go and then a little over 5000 you can feel it pick up a little more and then peak at about 5600. I don’t have any dyno numbers yet but I am assuming my gains are very close to my estimated 30. To note also my car is running pretty damn rich so there is some power to be gained out of some tuning. I will be heading back home in the next couple of weeks and can maybe get the car on a dyno and get some numbers up.

I am posting this up mostly to show if you have the motivation and the means you can get good power gains staying N/A. Also noted I bought the extra set of heads in limited time so i paid more then what you could get them for if you looked around online, and you could also resale the ones you take off to help make up some cost. I'll keep this updated as to how the cars running, as of now it has 500mile on it with no signs of trouble.

No, you should do the same to your stock heads and then sell them!

Thats going to be the plan eventially.

The heads now have 2800 miles on them. I just towed 1500lbs from WY to NC and the engine did great. There was some studering getting started from a dead stop but im pretty sure that was mostly from the load being put on the engine by the trailer, as iv been driving around without the trail now and it does great.

Driving at sea level
When i got to Saint Louis the first thing i did was unhook the trailer and took the car for a spin. And its freakin awsome! The power picks up and just keeps coming up and the car goes. First gear just pushes you back into the seat, second comes and pickes up where first let off and is over with real fast, Third you can feel is not quite what second was but still pulls amazingly hard. No numbers as of yet, the soonest i will be able to get any kind of number will be in about two weeks im going to the 1/8mile strip and can post up my times. It might be awhile before im able to get quarter mile times as my fourth gear syncro didnt like towing that much wieght and is dead now. Thats it for now.

more to come
