Some of you may remember that I had a cobb high flow cat a while ago, but I took it off because it was way too loud. I'm guessing the element started to fragment so it was essentially a track-pipe with a resonating chamber where the cat used to reside. So I was running with a stock cat since then.
Anywheres I picked up a lightly used random tech cat the other day and installed it this morning. Fit is much better, it mated up to my revolution motorsports headers and stromung mid-pipe without incident. I picked up a 2.25 graphite donut gasket from auto-zone for under two bucks. After getting everything bolted up I started her up and was suprised at the noise when the engine caught. Granted it was in my garage but it was alot louder than I was used to. I slid back under the car to check for leaks, none. I did notice that at idle the car was quiet, just a steady purr. I climbed out from underneath and gave her some gas. Damn, this is addicting ![]() So I backed of of the ramps and went for a drive. Definately improves the car, butt-dyno notices a huge improvement in acceleration while ear-drums notice the not-so-subtle bangs and pops of unburnt fuel entering the header ![]() I scared the crap out of some chick jogging along ![]() Feels like I lost just a bit of low-end torque but the gain through the mid and upper end was more than worth it. So I'm back to a full SS exhaust and a metal substrate cat which should last me a long time. My neighbors are gonna love me now ![]()
