Default Accident- 02 Blaze Yellow WRX - Not our fault. 56K DIE.

Well, as much as I hate reading posts on here about someone driving stupid or trying to drift and losing control, I've got my own post.

My wife was driving our '02 Blaze Yellow WRX home from work last night, a lady pulled right out in front of her to get in the other lanes. My wife laid on the horn, and swerved to avoid hitting her dead on. The lady did not look once, just pulled right on out in front of my wife. Well, my wife tried to avoid hitting her at all, but instead, clipped the front corner of the car, causing a nice bit of damage to my WRX.

I've got some questions now that arise here, and maybe someone can answer them.
I know that since it has now officially been in a wreck, that the value will drop more. I head that due to this, the insurance company will pay me for depreciation due to this. Is this true? I live in Georgia. Anyone know?

Second question- I am wanting to go ahead and upgrade where I can along the way on the car. It seems as if it will need a hood, fender, bumper, headlight, etc. I am going to get them to replace BOTH headlights so it doesn't look stupid. Who makes a good replacement bumper, (not just a lip). Where can I find a full bumper that looks good?

Meh, these wheels were brand new from Subydude.... and the front one has a knick in the wheel, and a gash on the new tires.

Here's the pictures. Truly a sad day for me. I am VERY thankful my wife is fine, and VERY thankful my daughter wasn't with her... It's not that it was fatal, but it could have been.

That sucks. They really ought to make a better licensing requirements. Something as stupid as this should be a a revoked license for a year. Sure it was an accident but it was a mighty stupid one!

You are entitled to a depreciated value of the car. You usually have to argue it though. For me some dumb lady backed into my car (she pretended she didn't hit me by not making eye contact when I stood in front of her car as she tried to drive away). Scratched the paint off my rear fender and took the clear coat off my wheel. Her insurance and my insurance duked it out (went from 50% me at fault just dealing with her insurance, to 80% her at fault when I bitched them out for being ignorant, to 100% her at fault when I went through my insurance) and I got like $500 for it. Since I never sent in a completed repair invoice they devalued my car $500. So, yes you are entitled to the depreciated value on top of repairs but I've heard it's a pain in the ass to deal with. I would just try making sure that everything her car touched was replaced (tires, bumper, new wheel, everything). You have the right to have them fixed and with enough arguing you can probably get a brand new wheel since you got it so recently. It's going to be a hard sell on the headlight though.

Good luck.

There is sometimes something called "diminished value." Read your policy or ask your insurance agent to find out if you are covered.

Ugh. Yet another occurance that makes me hate people moreso. I swear; Darwin Police are completely called for. At least no one was hurt though. Just make sure to pop the hood after they fix it to assure it was done right. I got a hit-n-run on my car on the passenger side; it got fixed but now the passenger door pops when opened.

Sorry to hear about your car, it can and will get fixed. Most importantly, hopefully your wife is okay!

Not bad, now's the time for the aftermarket bumper, lip, morettes (or EDM/JDMs), cf side markers (well, I guess you already have clear). Grill... STi scoop

I ws in an accident, I should have posted here. I got a new set of OEM wheels (oh great!) that cost as much as a set of damn Volks would have.

I noticed she was a nurse. How is it that almost every nurse I see is morbidly obese? Aren't they up on their feet all day at work?

USAToday had a survey a few years ago that concluded GA was the most overweight state in the country

...hey guy, sorry about that--but as long as everyone's ok, you know that's the most important thing...life's precious & fragile.

well, thank god she's alright...car's can be fixed, it's out of your control

If you pay for the fix on the car in cash the insurance company has no idea...i think

That fix though would probably be really expensive
