Default where did you get your LASIK done?

So where did you get it done? I only know a handful of people who got LASIK so if you had a good experience with a place in the dc/nova/md area please chime in!

Dr. John R. Wood, MD of Vistar Eye Center in Roanoke did mine, LASIK w/ excimer laser. Their web site sucks, but don't be fooled. This guy has been doing laser correction since the very early days.

My diopter was -11.5 in one eye and -12 in the other, with a nasty astigmatism. That's pretty freaking blind. I'm now 20/15 combined. It was textbook.

I had it done about 4 years ago and haven't had a single complication. No halos, nothing. Great experience.

I'll get the name of the guy who shot my wife's eye w/ a laser. He's a corneal surgeon based in Landsdowne, and uses the laser vision center in Tysons (same building as the Palm) to do his surgerys. I don't know what kind of surgery she had, there are like 10 different ways to shoot people in the eye w/ a laser (who knew??), but I'll get more details. He was also doing discounts for people referred by patients, so you might save some cash??

I have always wanted to get this done because I am virtually blind without some form of help. I am just way too chicken and I have really bad luck so I am sticking with my glasses/contacts. My family has a history of eye problems and I am not sure if that would effect the idea of me having laser surgery as well.

Same. I was extremely pleased with every aspect of it. After my VSP insurance discount, I paid $4600 for the Custom Lasik. Important to note that this includes ALL pre and post-op care needs plus yearly checkups and free additional correction in the future if I ever need it again.

My wife went to the Eye Center. She's so glad she went.

REMEMBER - you can pay with a Flexible Spending Account (PRE-TAX$) if you have one at work. Talk to your benefits coordinator on how they work.

BEST SCAM - if you're going to quit your job in the first part of a calendar year. Sign up for the FSA, get the eye surgery, then quit. You pay into FSAs on a monthly basis, but you can take out the FULL amount ANY time. It's bizarre, but true.

I have my FSA maxed out and am probably going to Millennium. I need to do it before the end of the year.

I had mine done by Paul Tarantino in Glen Burnie, MD. He did it 6 years ago and it's the best choice I've made in my life. He uses Wilmer Eye institute equipment at Johns Hopkins. Paid $5K back then.

My wife had it done at Millenium in Columbia. Dryness for 5 months but that is usually dependent on the patient, not the surgery.
