It's because AWD is a safety feature in your grandma's hands, and a super-performance enhancement in little Jimmy's.

A lot of people over estimate AWD in the snow... that or are just in a plain hurry... which was my case... twice now.

Look at me I'm sliding this is cool... then you hook up and your on a curb.

Also I'm a betting man... so I'd say driver error is the main cause and a high percentage are on RE-92 tires.... this data is for 2001-2003 so no STI

I am on my second wrx also. By trading it in on an STi. Not crashing it.

The WRX sedan edges out all the sports cars too! The WRX wagon, while still bad, is considerably better than the sedan.

Impreza (WRX sedan in particular) drivers can't drive for ****.

MY98-01 RS is in the same boat (not as many crashes but same rating overall).

My insurance just went up cause of this.

I'm going to put a positive spin on this: "best injury per collision ratio".

It's actually "about" twice as good as anything else on the list.

I should be in advertising.

I think the higher numbers for the wrx/lancer have a direct correlation to the STI/EVO facet of both cars.

this research shows that youre more likely to be injured while in a smaller vehicle. yikes! the wrx isnt that big...

Better trade those Escalades in for a Buick Rendezvous http://www.iihs.org/brochures/ictl/ictl_4wd_util.html

I wonder how many of those became front end conversions or interior upgrades for other GM trucks?

Yeah, of course, its the tires...
Everything else on that chart has *far* superior tires than the WRX does and that's why they don't crash as often, right?
Let me guess your two crashes were because of tires?

Makes me wonder how people got by back in the 60s. Were their 5000 pound rear wheel drive cars and 60s tires that much better?
