Default High Idling when cold in reverse

Hi all,

My fiance has a 2005 2.5RS Wagon and after it's been sitting a while and you start the car it will rev to the normal 1500 RPMS but as soon as the car is put into reverse and the clutch is disengaged the RPMS will shoot up to 2500-3000 and just hang there until the clutch it let out. My question is has anyone ever had this happen to them? It's got the electronic throttle control so maybe that could be the problem but I'm just guessing. Any input would be appreciated. Oh also I have brought it to the dealer and they said that it's "Normal" for the car to do this when it's cold.

My '05 Wagon does the exact same thing as you describe. I don't think that I would consider it a 'problem' however, due to the fact that the idle returns to what is considered normal as soon as the shifter is placed into neutral or 1st. What the exact cause of it is, I'm not sure.
