if you liked the original game, there's enough new stuff here to justify $30, especially if you didn't have live to get the hurricane packs.

if you don't have the original, it's obviously worth it, as the whole game is there, plus a slew of bonus stuff...including the "ninja dog" mode for those who couldn't hack it on normal.

live had the hurricane packs for free downloads, but they really didn't add a heck of a lot to the main game (it was basically a glorified ranking mode for live competitions).

this adds all the stuff that was in there to the main game (weapons, enemies, etc.), there's a bunch of added cutscenes to flesh out the "story," an added 50 mission mode, more difficulty levels so both mere mortals and masochists will have a good time, the graphics engine is noticeably sharper/has better lighting, etc. etc.

it's basically the "special edition DVD" of the original, but i certainly got my $50 worth out of the original.

Did they unlock the OG games from the beginning on this one? I unfortunately couldn't devote enough time to the game to unlock them, but wouldn't mind taking a run through for old times' sake.

Sorry man, the Gaiden series is a little too 'fantasy' oriented for me.

Tenchu 3 is far superior.

nope. it also has the arcade version of the original stashed in there as an unlockable.

also - keep your saves from the original on your HD - depending on what skill levels you beat it on, it will automatically unlock stuff.

the master ninja skill level is ridiculous. 3 hits = death.

sneaking around for hours bores me to death, so to each their own.

Because we all know a game where a single 15 yo girl with knives can single-handedly wipe out an army of guards is solidly based in reality.

It's SO real.
1) She's on roids
2) There is something to be said for the element of surprise? If you were a guard, would you be expecting a 15 year old girl you didn't know was there to jump on your head and slit your throat?

If I were a guard, and I saw the dude next to me fall over with blood spurting from his neck thanks to a ninja star, I'd probably, you know, like do something... you know, like maybe say "Holy @#$%! We're under attack!" and call some friends, or at the very least duck, which can't be said for the guards in Tenchu most times.

They do stuff!

They say "WHAT!?!?!?" and then they become alert...

...for about 30 seconds. Then they say "Ah... It was nothing" and go back to staring into space.

OK, it's not that realistic.
BUT... it's more realistic than having a game with creepy demon monster enemies!
