Default Side Skirts

OK peoples.

In anticipation of upcoming perfomance mods (if they ever get here), I'm thinking of doing a cosmetic one: Getting the black trim around the bottom of the car painted to body color.

Before I do it, I thought I'd ask around and see what others think of this and about how much it usually costs. Do these pieces paint well or does it just flake off?

If anyone has a pic and wants to post it, I'd also be grateful.

Thanks,

Steve F.

they come painted in japan. what u have is the same as the gt-b overseas.

you need a bodyshop who will prep it with a flex agent prior to painting. it should stay on unless you hang up on something.

i'm guessing $400 after everything is done? only your bodyshop can say.

The 97-99 Legacy Limited's came with painted side skirts, if I'm not mistaken; at least the white ones did. Just like Ben said, you need to have the shop prep them first. I think it entails sanding off the glaze coating and the spraying flex adhesive before painting.

Anyone ever price the side skirts from a limited? Thats what I was going to do. Simply order the parts prepainted, and I believe the side skirts come right off and can be installed without takin it to a shop. I'm pretty sure the front lip tho is part of the bumper assembly, so that will be more ( I just had mine replaced). Not sure about the rear.
