Default 30K mile tune up

While I am sure this info is acrived somewhere on this board, a search for "30K tune up" did not yeild the results I was looking for. So...

I am about due for my 30K tune up. Dealer wants to charge 600 somehting dollars for it. Most, if not all, of the stuff I can do my self. But I don't know what the dealer is going to be checking. What is done at the 30K tune up?

Zach

I had it done for about 550...and its worth it...considering this is the most money you will ever spend at the dealer because our cars are very reliable. You wouldn't want to waste your time trying to tune up your car. They do a 24 point inspection too.

Errr, at 30k, I might do it for peice of mind of hoping the dealer may see something warranty might cover........... maybe. A lot of that stuff is very easy to do/check, assuming you know a bit about cars. Probably not 550 bucks worth of parts/time for the shade-tree mechanically inclined.

And while I think my impreza is pretty reliable, I wouldn't make the blanket statement about this being the biggest expense *cough* headgaskets/radiator *cough*incurrable at a dealer

Damn. The 30k mile service at Lehman Subaru is $299.95 (for manual transmissions).

I haven't done it yet, because I've done nearly all of it myself already
