Default Help with "Search" please.

Ok I'll try to keep it short.
I have a 99 Impreza Wagon 2.2 5-speed. This is my daily driver, camping/trip car. I just rolled over 140k and I would like to consider an engine swap. I tried searching but couldnt find anything relevant.

Basically I just need to be pointed in the right direction for a 2.0L WRX (turbo) swap type of guide. I know it can be done (anything can with enough money/experience) just looking for any info out there on it and in particular road blocks and any custom things that need to be done so I stay ahead of the game. The 2.2 is a damn nice little dependable motor but during a lot of my camping trips into mountians or snowboarding with a full load of gear...she complains quite a bit going up some of the steeper mountain grades hence the upgrade. I'm only looking for a bone stock WRX swap.

Background: My fun car is a 96 300ZX Twin Turbo and extensive mods. Can do most work myself. Lived in Japan for 7 years and did quite a bit of racing/tuning there.

Tried looking in the converstions/swaps forum?

From what I've read the swap is fairly straight-forward. I believe all that you'll need is the harness, mounts, and cross-member (and maybe a RS/WRX hood to feed the IC). I'm far from an expert though.

Yep,
You got no results because you searched the wrong forum. Look at Stimpy's sticky at the top of the conversion forum. That will give you the basic understanding.

I have done a couple of swap. They are not terribly hard, if you can read a wiring diagram. But it takes forever to do. You need a complete WRX wiring harness and have to strip out all of the appropriate ECU related wires. Then you need to patch them into your car while cutting out the old wires. You also, need to make a few changes to the fuel wiring. All of this occurs with the dash off and the car in total chaos.

Mechanically, it is pretty straightforward. You just need to drop in the turbo crossmember for exhaust fitment. And there are a few other minor modifications you make. And you lose your cruise control.

In total, expect to spend 100+ hours doing the job...
