Default metal ring in the tial 38mm wastegate, what is it for

if you know what this ring is inside the tial 38mm wastegate, please let me know. it is removable. just wondering if it serves a purpose. i bought the wastegate used.

It's the seal ring that the piston on the wastegate uses to seal on. Do not throw away.

Like Wombat said, it is a seal and you definitely need to use that.
