Default My New Putt Putt

Well, I went ahead and got a scooter. She's an Aprilia Mojito Custom 50. I have an aftermarket exhaust and larger jet in the carb. She's pushin close to 6 hp!!! Stock, she's at almost 2.5. I figure it'll do 55. The speedometer only goes to 50, though. I got it at Apollo Scooters on Gray and 59 across the street from the police station. Really great people work there and absolutely no sales pitches. They have a bunch of different scooters new and used. They can get any new scooter you want at heavily discounted prices. At Eximport, they were going to sell me the scooter I bought for 3450.00 drive out. I got mine at Apollo for 2500 including the upgrades.
Here are some pics. I need to wash her.

Make sure you wear full leathers and a full-face helmet.

Do you have a practical use for it or did you just buy it for fun? How much will you be riding it?

Just curious because I've lightly toyed with a similar purchase.

By the way, nice looking Subarus. I like the wing on the STi.

I live about 3 miles from work. I thought about getting one just to save gas going to work, but about 1/2 mile of that is a busy feeder where people are really impatient (including me). The last 1/4 involves making a left on a 6 lane road wheer everyone is doing 40-60mph. There's been more than one wreck in front of my work place. When I did a value calculation, I found that it would save me less than $350 per year in fuel, plus I would be stuck not really being about to go anywhere before the end of the business day. Then I have to pay registration and insurance on the thing.

P.S. I'ld be a bit surprised it you can go 50mph if that thing only has 6hp. Have you test driven it over the 50 mark?

Hmm- my (currently stock) Piaggio Typhoon (not to be confused with the GMC Typhoon...) is good for 42mph flat out. Sometime real soon I'm going to remove that magic spacer in the drive belt, which should give me 50mph+ real easy. I did drive a modified Aprilla SR50-- 65mph!!! 65 on a scooter is a real thrill-- sort of like a Geo Metro at 140mph!!!

I agree. I bought the clear glasses today to keep the tears down!! Just a really fun scooter. I now have 130 miles on it and I'm thinking it got close to 75-80 mpg. And that's going fast and starting quick.

Good job on the Aprilia! I always wanted an SR50 Factory... My next bike will probably be a Tuono too.
