a color code is a generalized color the factory labels its paint. when mixing paint for touch ups and repairs, body shops start by using the factory color code (which never matches your car exactly) then they add color, pearl or metallic to bring the mixture closer to the color of your car, otherwise your (i.e. door) would be 95H light blue ridge pearl, and the rest of the car with the factory paint, would be 95H, dark blue ridge pearl. same paint code, basically the same color, just a few shades wrong. When body shops use chromavision, they take a digital photo of your paintjob, upload it to a DuPont colornet computer, and the computer gives you the mixture weights, down to 1/100th grams. Thus ensuring a more accurate color mixture. hope that helps.

Thumbs up Right On!

Yup, and Chromavision would save me $130 if I knew it sooner
Stupid dealership did the job twice w/color code on my RB5 spoiler, and messed up big time. They charged me nonetheless, and said they would do a chromavision, but will charge me from scratch again plus installation. However, they do not guranteed it will work, not to mention their buffing job was horrible.

Went to local body shop (a good one) and did the chromavision, and wow match perfectly to the naked eyes that is But had to pay though.

Good Luck
