what, are you buried under the mounds of data?

i think it's pretty clear which is which since people are posting that info. folks know that the 207 is capable of much greater power levels before ejecting parts, but they're both 2l.

it's also heartening to see how well those weaksauce 205's are holding up well over 300whp!

Holding up is a realative term, I dont think any of the guys making 11 second passes on a stock ej205 will tell you they expected it to hold up. Its a disposable motor.

i'm still having trouble understanding your issue with the way the thread has been developing.

205s and 207s ARE differentiated:

dug-e-fresh: EJ207, SZ49, 11.35 @ 125.33, GD
mikaust: EJ207, Green, 11.54 @ 123.22, GD
soon2bgreat: EJ207, GT35R, 11.7X @ 121.XX, GC
AZScoobie: EJ205, 1820 w/70 shot, 11.82@117, GD
Scoobie Steve: EJ207, VF22, 11.87 @ 112.XX, GC
Big Al: EJ207, GT30R w/75 shot, 11.88 @ 124.2X, GD
Vecino: EJ205, VF39, 11.8? @ 115.??, GD
dug-e-fresh: EJ207, VF36, 12.05 @ 115.23, GD
mikaust: EJ205, FP18G, 12.19 @ 117.9X, GD
DoctorNick: EJ207, SZ49, 12.1? @ 113.23, GF8
Randyspeed: EJ205, VF39, 12.3? @ 112.??, GD Wagon
SWOOP_G: EJ205, Green, 12.41 @ 114.XX, GD
2002wrxsti: EJ207, Green, 12.5X @ 117.XX, GD
Kotir: EJ207, VF37, 12.67 @ 107.53, GC
Twelvz: EJ205, VF22, 12.65 @ 108.XX, GD
djcttb: EJ205, VF22, 12.72 @ 105.5X, GD

finally, after checking every post, i can tell you that there has been no "ruling" about which heads the motor must have, only that the block/rods/pistons/liners must be oem.

if someone was trying to "sneak in" a 207 as a 205, then sure, call them on it. .. but that's not happening here.

Settle down now... the idea is to capture the performance of factory stock 2 liter blocks. EJ205s can put out some really good numbers if tuned well. Other than denoting the actual engine code, I wanna stay away from further delineation. It just promotes too much junk... ie- fastest with only pistons, fastest with stock tranny, fastest with a 6spd swap, fastest with GT30, etc, etc... where would it end?

True true, any feelings on the limit of an ej205, I feel like 450hp is attainable if you detune the motor at peak torque. Mind you I dont think that you could make many passes at that level.

That would be a EJ207 and I have a EJ207 Spec-C that had a VF30 stock. I don't know if it would be possible with a VF34 @20psi to get those times

Yea... fastest I went stock block ended up being 11.290 @ 127.73. Pulled drivetrain and decided to rebuild the block (still was running great).

Very simple set-up too. 100% stock EJ207 V.7 longblock with SZ49, FMIC, PPG tranny, exhaust, EM and boost control.

The motor build went 10.7 @ 136 spinning all through 1st.

I have all I need for my next build... its just sitting in the garage waiting for me to put it together, lol! Looking for llllooow 10's @ 140+ on a 2 liter, all boost

C16. Boost 31-32 psi I believe (but didn't hold to redline.

On pump gas I hit 11.8 @ 118, 22psi with 1.9 sixty foot launch. I've never "tried" too hard on pump gas.

Ok, so as of now its safe to conclude that:

DEF has the fastest 207 time at 11.2

and..

Coolrex has the fastest ej205 time at 11.6

Both amazing and impressive. The 207 is a much more reliable block, and has superior heads, so no surprise here. Never say never, but its going to be close to impossible for a non built, non nitrous 205 to compete with that 11.2.

Im currently working with Bonfire to trump the 11.6. That I think is very possible. Gonna be fun trying!
