I have nothing but good things to say about PDX Tuning. When they tuned my STI and ran into some problems they stayed hours diagnosing the problem into the night at no charge! After purchasing some Perrin stuff, Jeff even "helped" (I didn't do anything) me install everything at his house on his day off. I'm suprised Tim hasn't blocked my number by now after all the phone calls and e-mails I've sent him picking his brain. They are all a great bunch of guys that know there sheit! I give them three out of three bannanas

Arrow whiney people

I cannot speak for PDX Tuning on this but I will say they are excelent tuners and would have no problem with your setup. To say they can't handle a simple hybrid set-up (which is how I read it, by you saying they don't have time) is laughable. Since they have been tuning hybrid set-ups well before you even joined this board.

Posting things like this wont help your cause either, especially at the start of a business transaction.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...ght=PDX+Tuning

They do great work for patient people, and reliable set-ups, not leakers. BTW you whining about an oil leak along with not getting set up with them is weak.

Well it's unfortunate that this has happened. They are a great bunch of very BUSY guys... remember this is a 2nd or 3rd job for all of them.

so good luck with your tune-up

Alex,
If you lived next door and you and I could spend a week or two of evening we might be able to get your tuning accomplished. The fact is that you are not local to PDX and your tune will never happen over any normal tuning session. It would take many hours on the dyno and road to get all the bugs and nuances accounted for in your very original setup. That said i know that PDXT will never be able to make you a happy customer with the car as is. So our judgement call has been to NOT tune your car. In the interim we have done our best to get you link tuning efforts headed in the right direction.

Each business has only a limited amount of time and resources. Its a sad reality that we can't tune everyone who approaches us. Yours isn't the first setup we've turned away. If time, cost, or distance come into the equation we justifiably think very hard before we take on a challenge.

Feel free to call us or email with questions as you continue to tune your LINK. As always our advice in this regard is free and I'll make sure that our link specialists respond in a timely fasion.

Thanks to those of your with positive comments. :-)

Cheers
Bailey

(Doctor) T. Bailey and the guys at pdx do excellent work. I'm putting in an Axis stage #2 shortblock in Eugene and Tim is ordering all the parts and is going to help out with the install. I wouldn't try doing it in Eugene, without knowing Tim will be participating. I think they are now an Axis vendor. ??

They have always under promised and over delivered.

Listen in on a 380?whp tune session

Default Thank PDX Tuning

I have a stage 4 utec set up. Before I had it tuned by the guys at WWW.PDXTuning.com My car would knock under full throttle and did not pull any harder then my COBB 2.5 set up. But after the dyno tune my car is screaming. It also let me get a tune for high octane. That I can use at the flip of a botton. This is somthing that cobb could never do for me. I just wanted to say thanks to the guys at PDXTuning. They did good work for me and I have no regrates. Oh numbers = 92 octane = 265WHP 100 octane = 286WHP. This is done on a mustang dyno so they are a little lower then would be scored on a dyno Jet.

Well I've changed my mind about them. I went there for my tune, everyone was super nice and they were helping everyone i was amazed

jeff was really cool and took me out on couple road tunes, which were around their "circle of fun" or whatever they call it,

i netted 319whp on pump and 343 on race
with a bigger turbo, injs, better intake, bigger ic piping, and maybe a new tranny i could be into the 450s easilly

anyways thanks a lot guys

I had my car tuned by PDXTuning an ECUTEK tune for an avo 320, tmic, tbe etc and made 250 awhp with a conservative tune on pump gas. I am very happy and would highly recommend them. They know what they are doing and are a great experience. Thanks Tim!

Default got what I wanted!

I'm your average Subie enthusiast... I want a dependable car that's faster than yours and I want to have fun modifying it. PDX will definitely help you out with both these objectives.

I had a great time in Portland yesterday! The PDX crew is on fire with passion for Subarus and they treat your project like it were their own. If you want to be shoved to the sides, while the experts decide what's best for you and then call out, "Next!," don't go here. If you want to get to know and collaborate with a team of professional tuners who are at the top of their game, go to PDX.

On the customer service dynomometer, PDXtuners made 1800 foot pounds of personableness and 1800 horses of knowpower.

Here's what the car did:

I didn't see a real thread about them (hopefully I'm not blind) but I'd like to thank Jarrad and crew for the help, both via online and phone. Thanks for the knocklite and super quick free 2day delivery!!

Thumbs up PDX Tuning the best transaction ever!

PDX Tuning went above and beyond to help me out. My car has been down and out for 60+ days. I had a Vegas shop PPR, Look at it to no avail. I flew Dave prentiss from Kingpin up to work on it still no luck. Jeff and Jarrod happen to be in town for the SEMA show. They came over to my house away from the show and worked for quite a while on my car until we had an absolute diagnosis. They were super helpful, Very nice, and more knowledgable than anyone I've met to date. They were very professional and I couldnt say enough good things about them. They asked for nothing up front and didnt try to ask for a ton of money for the house call. When we finally discovered what the problem was they tried to fix it here and when it was apparent that wasnt possible they offered to mail me the part tomorrow or mon and walked me through installing it myself. This was the best transaction I've had with a biz ever. I highly reccomend them. They will be my first stop for any of my biz they can accomodate. I hope we can have tuning day with them here in Las Vegas in the future.

My stage 2 Ecutek, with APS 3" TBE and APS CAI, netted 278 hp on a Dyno Dynamic. It's one of the low reading dynos and was enough to impress the local tuners and some of the other Dyno day participants. What makes it so remarkable was it's a mail in tune. No custom job. Car pulls REAL hard and has been a joy to drive. They are currently shipping me a Perrin GT30R kit and have ALWAYS answered the phone and spent as much time as I needed going over my options and answering my questions. I have never posted in the Vendor section before, but after seeing some other Vendor issues, I thought members needed to see this. Great Guys, Great Customer Service, Great for our Community.

Not impressed. In fact somewhat disapointed.

Tried to sell me an up pipe on my 05 STI.
Said my Invidia exhaust wouldn't work.

I felt the staff was snobby, didnt listen to what I wanted, just tried to sell me a bunch of stuff I didn't want.

Sorry guys, takin my buisness elsewhere.

If what you "wanted" presented, in their experience, build problems then they are certainly going to be direct and tell you that. If you interpret that as being "snobby" then it's probably in your mutal best interest for you deal with another tuner.

FWIW, I've never had them try to sell me anything I didn't need or want, other than fuel rails for my GT30R. Even then I didn't hold it against them since it is a safety issue, and all I had to do was say "no." But, I don't take stuff like car parts too seriously, and I generally tend to park my ego at the front door...

While no one is perfect and no growing business can please everyone, as a PDXTuning owner and one of the primary tuners, i am more than concerned and similarly disappointed that we're delivered such a poor first impression.

I'd very much appreciate it if you would consider calling or emailing me to discuss your experience. Your opinions are very valuable and an honest appraisal of your experience will help PDXT improve. I understand your time is valuable and your efforts will not go unrewarded.

While very PDXTuning employee strives to know as much as is possible, not everyone is our organization is a "guru". Not everyone can be... However, collectively, PDXTuning has the most broad and technically adept staff of ANY subaru shop in the country. I'd love the opportunity to give you a second impression.

Best regards
Tim Bailey - VP PDXTuning

In my own experiences, they have actually told me I didn't need some of the items I was interested in purchasing from them. Sorry you had a bad experience, but I'd bet they would change your opinion if you choose to give them that 2nd chance.
