Default an Autocrosser's 15k Service

I realize this is the motorsports section but I value the opinions here.

I have an 04 STi with 16,000 miles on the odo (purchased Feb04). I'm taking it in to have the 15k "service" and was wondering if maybe it made sense to flush some of the fluids (tranny, diffs, etc?) earlier than recommended?

I have close to 3 dozen autocross events on the car, most dual driver events (2 local championship series this year, and one last year, I go to as many as I can). I've had the oil changed every 3 or 4 months, I had the brake fluid replaced last winter (still might need flushing?) ...so yeah, just wondering if it made sense to go that extra yard or not? Most of the non-autocrossing miles are city driving and the occasional highway miles (getting to the events!) the car is not a daily driver.

Joe Spitz (my salesperson btw) over at cars101.com has the recommended maintenance schedule showing major fluids at 30k. good enough?

thanks for your expertise.

yea, I would do the
1) tranny
2) rear diff
3) oil
4) brake fluid flush
5) check pads, as you should probably be needing new ones
6) can't hurt to do coolant

If you have the time / motivation, it's really easy to do the tranny / diff (although it stinks). Brake fluid isn't quite as easy, but with another person and a mityvac it's still pretty simple.

thanks for the advice.

getting access to a garage is difficult for me so I called a few places for price quotes. $600+ ....perhaps waiting for the 30k service is more fiscally sound... (suppose I could just dump the fluids in the back alley, that's what storm drains are for right?) maybe I'll go in for the regular service and have them check the fluids for grime, etc. see what they think at that point. (my brake pads are aftermarket, they should be fine).

you dont need a garage. just a large capacity oil pan or a small one and a lot of milk jugs. do it in the driveway... or on teh side of the street... doesnt take much work at all. i would pass on the coolant jsut becasue i'm lazy.

Back alley nothing -- fill up a big oil pan with all your fluids (engine oil, diff, tranny, etc) and bring it to a walmart, they will let you dump it in a waste oil tub for recycling...

AFAIK any place that sells motor oil must also recycle it
